It was so weird, before that trip, I used to think all asian guys were unattractive. And only guys I liked were movie stars, lol. Like Wonbin and Han Jae Suk. I still think Han Jae Suk is the finest Asian guy to ever have stepped foot on this planet and the main singer from R.ef (he'd be perfect with eye surgery but still a 10) Everytime, he's kissing a chic on a drama, I'd be thinking that girl needs to get off my man, lol. But have I ever seen any Asian that fine in America, like once in California during my 19 yrs in the states..

I'm glad that this thread has gone into a positive direction, but I still feel a smidgen of that "Korean women are far finer than any Western girl" vibe from a few of the guys. I really would like to see who is behind these messages. I mean, they claim to be well adjusted, successful and attractive, but I personally can't understand how you can have such a distaste for women of your own race if you are so 'normal.' Anyways, I have a lot to say about this, but I'll keep it for a more deserving thread.
On to the original topic: Korean men are hot. So are white men. And black men. All sorts of men.
Why not be confident that a Korean man, or any man, will find you attractive? I really don't think that a Korean girl has anything over a Western woman who takes care of herself. I'm confident I'll be able to find a Korean boyfriend if that becomes my desire after coming to Korea. But I'm open to any guy, he doesn't have to be a Korean.
Sometimes when I read all of the negative talk Western women receive on this board, it makes me feel really unconfident...so I assume it affects many other women on this board in the same way.
I can see how women in Korea tend to gravitate towards gyopos as they are a mix of the two worlds they are limboing between..the US and Korea. But I have to warn you that many of the problems women experience when dating Korean nationals (such as parents, for example) oftentimes exist with gyopos too. I should know. . .
(sorry know this post was all over the place...its late over here in the US!) |

Me too~ I am confident that I can easily find a 'boyfriend', the truth is, I don't actually want one. In my OP, I was actually stiring for insights. My last boyfriend was Korean and before that, British. I have no 'goals' as such, it's, very, umm....refreshing |

Yo sexy laideez. I just finished reading Invisible Monsters, a real high brow book with Vonnegutesque prose and a punch-gut plot. I'm smart, sophisticated, and just a little bit zany! (Okay, sometimes I kick back and have a glass of wine--maybe two!!) And, by the by, I am indeed attracted to both of you callipygian samples of Europa.
You can check me out now and tell me what you think. The pic is a bit old, but I like to think I still retain the same youthful grin!.

There are even some Asians in the states that absolutely despise Asian chics. They say they hate all Asian girls and they'd only be with white girls. Well, that's good for them that they can be with who they want, but no need for the negativity on the women of your own race. It only makes the guy look dumb. I've never been with an Asian guy, but I've never said anything dumb like that they disgust me so much, when I'm Asian myself. I'd be putting down my own people.
It's ok to have a preference because we all have different tastes, but I don't talk bad about the guys of some races I am not attracted to. That doesn't mean someone's not attractive.
Never been with a gyopo either, but the parent's approval is something I never worry about. I just do whatever I want. Like Cartman says " I do what I want!" Haha. I'm not risking out on losing someone I really care for because "the parents don't like them." Having to regret picking the parent's side years later, and wondering how things would've been if I would've followed my heart, is not the pain I want to find out.
Perfect example of that is The Lover. That Asian guy said that his parents didn't approve of Jane March, but he didn't care. He was going to follow his heart and marry her anyway. And she took him for granted and used him for his money, and was emotionally abusive to him. And when she was coming back to France on a boat, halfway through the Pacific Ocean or whatever ocean she was traveling on, she realized she really loved him and she messed up so much to the point she can't go back and fix it.
She ended up regretting it for the rest of her life. I think that's the worst that can happen. To meet the love of your life and mess it up because you were scared of what other people or what society might think. It made me even more upset because it's an autobiography or based on one. And he called her when they were grannies after his Asian wife died and told her that he still loved her. What kind of torture is that? What's sad was he was in France too when he called, but they didn't even meet up. I guess because they were already too old anyways then. |

As for my analysis of the Lover, i heard the book takes the perspective of her loving (chasing) him, while the movie takes the opposite perspective (he chasing and loving her). So i'm not sure which perspective you are referring to. ( i never read the book). And the book must be more accurate because she actually wrote it.
I took it that neither family would approve and the only reason she wanted it to appear as if she was using him for money was to justify to her family the reason for seeing him. Without that false motive, her family wouldn't allow it. But she really always did love him. |

Ever heard of the term "try hard"?
From what I've seen, some of the Asian girls overseas seriously overdress/underdress, put on a chunk of brown makeup or overuse the local lingo a little too much, all in the name of "fitting in better" with their adopted culture. As insecure as they can be, they can also be quite judgmental. |

Natalie: It will make you happy to know that no matter what happens, I will NEVER EVER EVER date a Korean chick. They're crazy psychotic ... beeps ... the whole lot of em. Hate them all but they're good for eye candy and thats it...
hope that makes you feel better. |
