| What's the deal with organising a ticket home. My contract finishes in a few months and I'd like to organise my ticket soon. I'm guessing I need to pay for it then school will reimburse me. Am I on the right track? |

| It all depends on your school. Talk to them before you do anything. If they are required to buy your ticket, then let htem handle it. Just make sure you keep on them so they don't wait and wait until there aren't any available |

You're asking a lot if you still have a few months left.
If it's going through a Korean company you will not be able to make anything concrete until the month before as they do not decide on prices until then. I wouldn't worry to much about it. If it's done last minute, they'll just have to pay a higher price. I'm not sure about the reimbursement thing; how did you get over here? Do you work for a public school? |

If you're at a pub school, then most likely they'll reimburse you.
Make sure what the max. amount is. I'm leaving mid July and checked the airfare, the most direct flights to my home runs about USD $1600. 1-way!
My wrangler, told me that that they'll only reimburse 75% of a Korean Air ticket. So I started wondering where in the world they come up with these numbers.
Anyhow, I was able to book via Singapore air for about US$1200 total. |

Most wranglers misunderstand the wording on the contract.
They will pay the value of your ticket - valued up to 75% of a FULL FARE economy class ticket on Korean Air. I have never seen anyone pay that much for a flight home yet. Tickets normally sell for about 1/2 the PUBLISHED FULL FARE rate.
Do NOT let them hand you some crap about only paying 75% of your ticket home. |

It's in my public school contract too that they will only reimburse 75% of a Korean Air ticket, which is a bit tight of them, but understandable as they are one of the most, if not the most expensive carriers.

Coming to Korea, I snagged a direct flight Dulles (Washington DC) to Incheon round trip for $1100. This was a direct KoreanAir flight from Dulles to Incheon, and Incheon back to Dulles. The return date was open ended.
Why did I get such a good price on a round trip direct flight? I booked through a travel agent instead of buying the ticket online. |

How can you buy it cheap. I mean cheapest possible? I've looked on www.cheapoflights.com and cheapest I find from Austin, Tx to Korea one way is 550+120 tax. But the roundtrip about 1000. |
