I'd sue his ass for harassment or something...

I don't beleive in the death penality, however I'm will to put that belief aside in this case.
The judge should be shot. Hell, shoot hom in the stomach so he can die painfully.
What a moron, and added to that he's hurting the dry cleaners financially. I hope they can counter sue him and get all their money back and then some. |

Clearly suing a merchant who loses or damages your property is not frivolous. And the judge has found a loophole in the law. If the judge was suing for $2000, it wouldn't be news.
It's a whole pile of stupid but my interpretation of frivolous is not the size of the damages but that you can sue at all. For example, I injury myself through my own stupidity and sue you. |

Does the US legal system run on precendence? If so they're going to have to change that to get rid of this kind of lawsuit, and in that sense, yes it is broken.
Oh, and the guy suing isn't a judge, just a new lawyer. The profession is drawing the best and brightest. DOLLA BILLS Y'ALL!! |

The Judge can't throw it out of court as the case has merit in the sense that there are damages, just not the amount claimed.
There is usuually a jury of people who look at a case before ANY damages are awarded. They will do the right thing. (please don't mention the mcdonald's coffee case until you google it to find out exactly what happened, how much the lady received, and how badyinjured she was.)
Everyone hears about these rediculous cases. No one hears about big companies getting out of paying damages to really hurt people. Just not as exciting. Plus, the insurance industry has a great pr dept. Those tort reform groups mentioned in the article are funded by business/insurance interests. |

According to recent threads on this board, America is well on its way towards fascist rule, features an out-of-control gun culture that encourages people like Cho, is sexually repressed, and its legal system is broken. And this does not include its obesity problem, either.
Amazing that such a country could even function.
In any case, must feel pretty good to come from a non-American country. |

Your assumption is everyone posting here is non-American. Your second assumption is there's an implied "but not in my country!" Criticisms of Korea, say, do not imply those problems don't exist at home. When I complain about how bad Korean students are, it certainly doesn't mean students in Canada are wonderful. I'm merely speaking of X culture that has Y expectations and how badly reality and expectations match. |
