I've been here six months and in another thread some guy mentions
that he's making about twice what I'm making.

I've pretty much decided I'll do a second year where I'm at but I'm wondering aobut long term.

What kinds of options do I have?

Try to get into a hagwon teaching the richest few percent of kids. Those places often hire people from good universities who don't stick around very long so there's good turnover. A head teach position at one of those places (what I have) can make good money.

You intend to remain in Korea long enough to make teaching English here a CAREER? Rolling Eyes

BTW- don't believe everything everyone posts on this site about salaries. Wink

The only posts you notice on here are the guys who work 2 hours a day and get paid 7 mil a month to do it. It's not common. They just love to post about it any chance they get. You'll meet plenty of people who have been here for years and whose jobs aren't all that much better than yours.

That said, go for the gold. Talk to everybody you meet about their job, find out when people are leaving. Be the a**hole networker you've always wanted to be. Knowing people is the way to go.

In my more cynical moments: Your career should be to get as much money as you can out of the place before the industry and/ or economy finally collapses like the house of cards both are.

In my optimistic moments: The suitcases of money you'll have may be kind of heavy, so maybe just enjoying your extended life vacation here while you can would be a good idea.
