Hi. just to let you know, it takes around a week for them to finally give you clearance. Once you provide a scan of yr passport, you'll receive an email stating that you're not a full member yet.

Then, in a week you should receive an email telling you that you're allowed to make a cyworld mini hompi, etc.

Just gotta have patience. Very Happy

Hey, I didn't have to do all this when I joined. This passport copy must be a new deal of some kind. I also didn't have to wait a week or 2 before I could get started.

I wanna see yr cyworld! I'm addicted to cyworlds...esp weygookin ones. I've looked at all the 미녀들의 수다 cast's cys. Now I wanna see princess'. Please. Very Happy

I think it's been like that for at least a couple years now. I didn't have to do the passport fax thing, but I remember a thread on this board about having to do it popping up not long after I started mine.

when i joined a couple of years ago i just clicked a button that was for kids, gyopos, and foreigners in general, if i remember rightly..

i've really enjoyed having cyworld, but beware the 'my name is ... and i want to english very well' message from strangers. do not accept 1chon from these kind of people, because they will probably tell their friends and suddenly you'll get like 10 others just like them, all wanting to english very well, bombarding you with messages. alternatively just reply to anything they send in korean, and they'll soon lose interest in you.

Way too long- like, LIFER long. Well, five years.

Anyways, from the running start that you're off to both your Korean and your cyworld willl probably be kicking MY bum in almost no time. Sorta like that guy I know a few posts up... Cool

Can someone tell me how to overcome this message :

Quote:
이메일 중복확인을 꼭 해주셔야합니다!

According to the galbijim website - "This message asks the user to click the button to be sure that the email address is not already in use. Pressing the button will confirm that the email address is not already in the system and thus ready for use."

How can I register with Cyworld? I've registered on the US site but my friends can't leave a message or become neighbours (whatever that means).

PS. I'm trying to register with a hotmail.com, would that be ok? as I see this :

다른 이메일로 가입시 주시길 바랍니다.

My taekwondo kwanjangnim registered me in November and it only took a day to get cleared. "Amanda, you very Korean, you live in Korea, must have Cyworld."

Frankly, I mostly use it to keep in touch with my students, but they like it, and I practice writing in Korean with a few friends.

That first message means that you haven't clicked the button to check whether your email address is in use or not. When you click it a small window should pop up telling you that you can use it.

The message about Hotmail is because it usually blocks anything from Cyworld but it's still okay to register with. I originally registered with a Hotmail address.

Oh, and if you've registered on the US site you'll need a new email address for the Korean one. It keeps all the email addresses on a single database so if you register with one email address for the English or Chinese one you'll need a different one for the Korean version. Best to get a Gmail account set up then if that's the case.

Hi thanks for that. I did click the button but it gives me an error message. I think its saying that my e-mail doesn't exist or isn't registered (a message box with a couple of red writing).

That's not an error message, it's a confirmation message saying you're good to go with that email address because it's not already registered with them. Just click the okay button and finish the rest of the registration and you should be good.
