just wondering, im planning to move over to korea as soon as i possibly can, but i've just been told that my appearance might hinder my possiblity of being able to get a job. i currently have purplish hair, a few piercings and a couple of tattoos.
the tattoo's are discrete, except a small one on my wrist. but would i have to go back to my natural hair colour and get rid of the piercings??
all responces are greatly appreciated. |

Piercings have never been a problem for anyone I know. I doubt most people would be picky about your hair colour either. Is there a way you can cover up the tattoo though, like with a wristband? |

I would say there's a Brad Pitt/Marilyn Manson equation.
The closer you look to Brad, the more chances of getting a job. The closer you look to Marilyn, the less chances you have. |

I have a nose piercing, which is fairly unobtrusive. It gets exactly two reactions:
1. EWWWWW!! *completely forgotten about five minutes later*
2. COOL!!! *completely forgotten about five minutes later*
I'd say just keep your jewelry smallish and not too crazy. Mine doesn't get much notice, and I even live in a small town.
I also have a couple of tattoos that are generally hidden. I have a few of classes who have seen the one on my lower back, because my shirt pulled up a bit in the back when I was leaning over. Usually when that happens, my students bum rush me, all ask to see it, and that is that. With one of my middle school classes, we were talking about body modifications in general, and when we talked about tattoos, they all concluded that people with tattoos are "dangerous and scary." "Oh, I must be dangerous and scary then!" After a flurry of discussion in Korean they concluded that maybe not ALL tattoos are scary. Then they asked to see them, and I've gotta say, they didn't seem all too terrified. |

My experience is tattoo's are not good to show in public, Koreans think that only gansters have tattoo's, hair color depends on the person hiring you. If they are super conservative then maybe. But with the huge shortage of teachers they will not say much. |
