My colleague is new to Korea and bought a cellphone from a foreigner that is leaving the country. Can they now walk into SK and say "Please hook this phone up pre-pay please" without their ID card? What info do they need to provide in order to get the phone hooked up?
I've read the big 'cellphones used and new' thread but didn't find what I needed to know there. |

I think if the phone was registered in the name of your friend, you need their ARC. I might be mistaken on this but my first cell phone was registered in my Korean friend's name and when it was stolen I need her ARC to get a new phone. Just to get a new phone I had to have the ARC.
I have heard of other people having problems exchanging phones between people, if possible just get a copy of the arc, you don't need the originial.
But from what I know about KOrea, anything is possible and the rules change from store to store. |
