I've agreed to work for an additional six months at my hagwon after my contract expires next week. However, I'm taking a month's unpaid vacation from mid May until mid June.

My boss wants to move me into a cheaper apartment when I get back, which is fine as I've seen it already and it's decent enough. However, he also wants me to give up one of my vacation days to help him move all of the furniture (including washing machine, fridge, bed) from my current apartment into the new one because he doesn't want to hire a moving company.

He's not paying me for it, it'd be a favor to him. I already think I'm doing him a favor by coming back for six months (he got no offers when he tried to find a new teacher and I have other plans of what I want to do with my future). So, I told him I wouldn't do it, he can move the stuff after I leave. He seemed disappointed and a little huffy.

So, am I being unreasonable?

There should be some compromise here. Maybe a couple of half work days or something.

Roch has to say here and right now that you and the Following Poster made good points.

You might want to tell her to take a hike to North Korea or pay you for your efforts, etc.

Why don't you offer to pay for the cost of hiring movers? That way you don't have to be back for it.

Offer to help move it on a Sunday afternoon with the school bus drivers helping you if you really want to keep this job. This is what my school had me do when I moved into another apartment. Took one hour out of a Sunday afternoon. No vacation day taken.
