I have a quick question I hope someone can help me with. I've been working at my new hagwon about a month now, and I'm the only foreign teacher there. There are also three other Korean English-teachers working there. I remember reading before that hagwons with less than five employees are exempt from having to pay pension and tax. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not? Or has the law changed?

Thanks!

Tax and pension are mandatory, regardless of the amount of employees. Businesses with less than 5 full time employees aren't required to pay severance by law. However, it's fairly standard to have severance pay in your contract - so if that's the case, you should get it upon the completion of your 1 year contract.
