Every country has the "Cool Areas". They always have their downsides too. Often, the cool areas are too expensive to eat out, or buy stuff you need to live. I wonder if anyone can recommend a place I'd have a better chance at finding cool friends. I can't speak Korean and I'm not doing the teach in 2 public schools thing so Seol and areas that dispatch a PST to 2 different places are not possible for me to accept. All your suggestions would be appreciated.

I've spent a decade in a college town. It is boring place with losers and slackers (I've heard college towns all are). I just found a vidoe on hongdae and it males it seem like a college drinking town Rolling Eyes What's your input on it?

Oh wait a second is Hongdae in Seoul? Oh no....I cant do 2 schools at once!

Anyways, you said young and cool....So, now you want people who are young and cool, but not university? What do you want - businessmen?

It probably won't pay off in the long run to be insulting to the people who read your posts and try to help you....

By the way, you spent ten years in a college town full of losers and slackers? Which one were you?

Haebangcheon isn't bad. It seems to be coming into its own.
Hongdae area though expensive, was nice.
We just got back from Goeje-do. Very nice, very nice! (Borat voice.)

What are your misgivings about Hongdae? It is basically the cultural, arts center of Seoul. It has a ton of nightclubs and live music venues. While the prices are a little higher there, they're still competitive with Apgujeong and Gangnam and all those areas.

I gotta do a public school....If it makes you work at 2 schools, I can't do it. Otherwise, I think I would put it up there on my short list. I have to decide very very soon where to go. I like the idea of ocean nearby, I like the air and the vibe. I have lived in mountains for my whole life. I wonder if there's adequate civilization in a seaside city in Korea? Money is #1 priority and #2 is lifestyle, and #3 is environment/ambience. If you're keeping track Laughing
