I'm new to the whole idea of teaching in Korea. I've been reading the boards here for about 3 weeks now and doing a little research on the web.

I came across this group, http://www.atcjob.com/ the other day and have seen several good looking job offers from them.

I did a search or two here on the forum and unless im a doofus who just cant figure it out (which could very well be true) I've not found anything.

Have any of you heard of them? What advice can you give?

Thanks much!
-Jed

I used them and had absolutely no problems. A couple of others here have said the same thing.

Hey thanks to all for the information. It looks like they'll be one of the recruiters I contact.

Much obliged!

I also used ATC as well. I really love my apartment and my school. The school helped us find bigger accomodations because I am married.

They're okay, better than a lot of other recruiters.

Stay away from Avalon School, though. ATC always pimps that, but it's best to be avoided.

I don't think you have too much to worry about with Avalon, as I've read it's usually a safe place to work at for your first year. They usually provide their teachers with some nice accomodations, but most teachers only stick around for a year. ATC tried to get me to sign with Avalon even though I told them I was only looking for a public school position. It seems like they have a big turnover and I've heard from other teachers who worked at the branch in Jeongja that runners were quite common

I'm pretty happy with them

They did a good enough a job with placing me. I knew what I wanted they did their best to get it. Messed about a little bit but no more than was to be expected.

if you find them slowing down just drop them an email mentioning other recruiters. Gets them moving a lot faster Very Happy

Why is that? I'm working with a recruiter at the moment who seems to be pushing Avalon pretty hard...

edit: Why would they be encouraging people to work with Avalon, to calrify. Do the larger comapies offer bonuses (bonii, hah) in the recruiters' commission?

Don't confuse ATC with a similarly named recruiter ACT!

I'd agree that ATC are a bit more professional than some of the other recruiters out there.
