Bosnian Pyramids
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Coordinates: 4359′33″N, 1810′21″E

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosnian_pyramid

Visočica overlooking Visoko, todayA site known as Visočica hill, in the Bosnia-Herzegovina town of Visoko, northwest of Sarajevo, became the focus of international attention in October 2005, following a news-media campaign promoting the idea that it is actually the largest of a group an ancient man-made pyramids, the so-called Bosnian pyramids.

The 213 metre Visočica hill, upon which the Old town of Visoki was once sited, is roughly pyramid-shaped. The idea that it constitutes an ancient artificial edifice was publicised by Houston-based expatriate Bosnian author and metalworker Semir Osmanagić, whose subsequent excavations at the site have uncovered what he claims to be a paved entrance plateau and tunnels, as well as stone blocks and ancient mortar which he has suggested once covered the structure.

Osmanagić has claimed that the dig involved an international team of archaeologists from Australia, Austria, Bosnia, Scotland and Slovenia,[1] however many archaeologists named have stated they had not agreed to participate and were not at the site.[2] The dig began in April 2006.

Scientific "investigations" of the site show there is no pyramid.[3][4][5]

Additionally, scientists have criticised the Bosnian authorities for supporting the pyramid claim saying, "This scheme is a cruel hoax on an unsuspecting public and has no place in the world of "genuine" science."[6]

There was no pyramid. It was at best an "amateur" archaeologist misidentifying what he found, at worst a hoax.

Sure ...

And didn't you also say there was no Atlantis?

How btw has this been "proven" a "hoax"?
Because WIKIPEDIA says so? Laughing

My hypothesis is it's more a matter of challenging the DOMINANT PARADIGM.

I'll even go so far as to suggest that TIME will reveal beyond a shadow of doubt.

Excluding chronic pseudo-skeptics such as yourself of course Wink

Reread what I said. I didn't say it was necessarily a hoax. The guy proposing it is a pyramid isn't really an archaeologist, now is he? He might not be intentionally perpetrating a hoax. He might also simply be confused. Real archaeologists don't seem that impressed.

And yes, I think it's highly probable Atlantis, like middle earth, is place concocted by an author to tell a good story.

Time as in tic toc ... the clock on the wall NOT the magazine.

As stated, the Pyramids likely call for a re-writing of history books & challenge the dominant PARADIGM.

With so many vested interest at stake this cannot help but be a problem.

What dominant paradigm? A pyramid in Europe? In our backyard? Archeology would LOVE that. There would be so much work for the community, they wouldn't try to bury it.

I'm sorry, I'm really really sorry but archeology like all sciences is about lines of evidence and careful, detailed investigation. Some yahoo digging up hither and dither with zero knowledge of how to maintain chains of evidence is doing no service if this is a real pyramid (which I seriously doubt given the lack of any evidence).

Yes, the dominant PARADIGM is one of careful evidence and peer review. Got a problem with that? It's kept you alive, that wacky lil paradigm.

You really go through life thinking anything on this planet that's an institution is out to lie and screw you over, huh?

Not screw me over personally no. Not usually, not necessarily Wink

Systemic institutional TRUTH SUPRESSION though, yes.

Nature of the beast. Without a doubt.

e.g. You're a Prof who want to keep your university tenure? Duh.

And what if they're simply correct? Not rubber stamping your wild eyed beliefs = truth suppression? I'm sorry you can't boil down science to merely a desire to "keep" tenure. A lot of stuff wouldn't work if science was based on pervasive truth suppression to "keep" tenure. (And tenure isn't something one has to work very hard to keep once awarded... just don't go around boning the first years.)

So what careful lines of evidence lead you to believe we got a pyramid in Europe?

Oh I guess it's easier to claim a massive conspiracy than to do the work of providing evidence. No surprise.

Over the past two centuries researchers have found bones and artifacts showing that people like ourselves existed on earth millions of years ago. But the scientific establishment has ignored these remarkable facts because they contradict the dominant views of human origins and antiquity Idea

Cremo and Thompson challenge us to rethink our understanding of human origins, identity, and destiny. Forbidden Archeology takes on one of the most fundamental components of the modern scientific world view, and invites us to take a courageous first step towards a new perspective.

http://www.mcremo.com/fa.htm

The knowledge filter and scientific suppression Idea

One of the prominent themes introduced in Forbidden Archeology is the phenomena of "knowledge filtration." This is the process by which scientists and others routinely accept evidence that supports their preconceptions and theories while rejecting, either consciously or unconsciously, other evidence that does not uphold their views.

This process of suppression of evidence is illustrated by many of the anomalous paleoanthropological findings discussed in the book. This evidence now tends to be extremely obscure, and it also tends to be clouded by a series of negative reports, themselves obscure and dating from the time when the evidence was being actively rejected. Thus, evolutionary prejudices held by powerful groups of scientists act as a "knowledge filter" which has eliminated evidence challenging accepted views and left us with a radically altered understanding of human origins and antiquity.

Scientific outrage in response to Forbidden Archeology Shocked Laughing

Why has Forbidden Archeology generated such intense reactions from the scientific community? One reason is that the book quickly became an underground classic, not only in alternative science circles, but amongst inquisitive seekers in mainstream academia Idea

Its unprecedented comparison of both accepted and anomalous evidence for human evolution stunned scientists by showing that extensive anomalous evidence stands up equally well, if not better, than accepted evidence. After shocking the scientific world, Forbidden Archeology caught the general public's attention with the 1996 broadcast of an NBC-TV special called The Mysterious Origins of Man that featured the book.

Establishment scientists felt so threatened by this program that they lobbied the Federal Communications Commission to censure and fine NBC for airing it. Thus by exposing this scientific coverup and knowledge filtration network Cremo and Thompson revealed some painful truths about human evolution to the prevailing regime and subsequently threatened their exclusive monopoly of funding, intellectual authority, and social prestige.
