I hear that there are a quite a few teams that play around Seoul (semi-social) that are mostly made up of foreigners. I guess the following would be the best place to enquire (English-language board like this one but focused on soccer)

There's another poster on here who sometimes advertises a pickup game on Sundays. I've never made it but one of these days I'll be there. |

I'd be interested in playing on the weekend in one of those expat amateur teams somewhere in Seoul, but I've no idea where to start looking. If anyone's got any inside info then I'd appreciate the help. |

|
|
I left a message in the other thread on pickup soccer, and send the thread author a message, but got no response.
Anyway, I live near Technomart (Eastern Seoul), and I know of 2 areas where people can play soccer. There is a middle school with an artificial pitch that is about a 15 min. walk from Gangbyeon station on line 2. I practice and play there on weekends (last weekend I joined a pickup game with Koreans). It's a small pitch, and there's usually kids there on weekends, but it's good for small 6v6 or more games.
Also, there is a dirt field at Gangbyeon station. Men play soccer volleyball (not sure if that's the right name). I'd like to play that game, too. I have several soccer balls, but no net. If several of you are interested we could pitch in and buy a net.
Feel free to contact me at: aw_peters at yahoo dot com, if you are interested.
Cheers,
Will |

seoul sunday football league
there are some saturday games these days aswell.
If you are a relatively normal character who likes a few beers at the weekend with a game sandwiched in somewhere it's one of the best ways of meeting people. I would really especially recommend it to any newbies. There is a great network of people from all backgrounds with a wealth of knowledge about living and working here that you can tap into.
If it's not a little competitive then who cares?
If you're opponent in chess/tiddlywinks isn't really trying it hardly makes it more enjoyable, the same applies here. Granted, if you don't like being tackled you are probably safer with a kickabout.
I'm not trying to stir the pot and rile people for having a kickabout but rather saying don't be scared of joining a perfectly good league. It is one of the main reasons I will probably renew again as i have made some really good mates out of it.
It's not that competitive anyway. The tackling is limited compared to playing at home as you will never play a game on a proper grass surface here. |

Socrates,
How does one go about joining one of these Saturday/Sunday league teams in Seoul? Where do they play? What level of ability does one need to have? I'm really interested and so is a friend of mine. Any further info would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers! |
