| His brother-in-law is Mr Jung who runs the Seoul Pub along with Junior (his younger brother-in-law). |

I haven't been there in a long time, but when I was living near Seoul I'd regularly pop in for a Urquell or two if I had some time to kill. Never had any beefs with the place myself, but I know a lot of people who have taken offense with the 'drink quick and no loitering' rule. I'm a pretty quick drinker, so that never really bothered me.
One thing about the older dudes playing dice though: I asked them if I could play with them, once, and they said 'sure.' They taught me a really cool game--'poker dice.' I'm not normally one for apple schnapps shots in the afternoon, but it was pretty fun. Those old dudes are all right, even if one guy was a bit of a weiner and kept ragging on me for being unshaven.
That bar's not for everybody, I guess, but what bar is? |

| Isnt part of the fun of 3 Ally the edginess that Gunther and his serving staff give off with their rapidity of asking you if you would like another drink while a quarter of the old still sits in your glass? I cant fault it; it isnt a bad business practice. A movement of the hand to the glass at this late stage bring at least one, maybe two the floor staff over and tells me just how well they have been trained. It is truly relentless. At least you are never thirsty. |

| I haven't been there too often and only tried the food twice but I'm surprised people think the food is bad. I thought it was pretty good, the stew at least. No problem with it being an older crowd - some people here give the impression they think you're supposed to give up drinking and stay home when you hit 40. F that. |

Many so-called teachers between the ages of 22-30 are very narrow-minded, small town loads or country bumpkins who coasted through university. Post-secondary schooling did not appear to improve their minds at all. Sorks to know that such cretinous individuals are even allowed into the 3 Alley Pub. |

I hate being surrounded by all the arrogant hipper than thou younger people who think they are God's gift to Korea.
What's wrong with people of all ages getting together and enjoying themselves? Open your mind and get your head out of your BUTT! |
Agree. There are times when I wouldn't piss on the Hongdae crowd if they were ablaze, and I am not that old. I like 3A for the reason that it's relaxed, laid back and you meet a better class of person in there. So what if they are a bit older. |

Not at all what I said or meant. Just that I feel like a sore thumb in there (and I'm pushing 40 myself). I've tried, but don't have much in common with 60-year-old army contractors (or their 40-year-old korean lady friends). |

"Good" what?
"Good riddance to a good customer that brought 3AP lots of business but then threw it all away by having the audacity to think he could go wee-wee once w/o buying a round"?
Or "Good for you for sticking to your guns. If they pulled that on me, I'd do the same. That's rotten treatment"?

i found this kind of strange too. aren't there tons of places in itaewon to go tinkle outdoors? |

Fair enough, it was just a sort of vibe from several people, not just you. I feel like a sore thumb both in Hongdae and in 3A these days, being neither that young nor that old. |

The 3 Alley Pub does have some nice people that go there. I'll say that, but to say they are wholesale a better crowed, I disagree since the guys next to me were going on and on about the prostitutes. I don't think that's classy, and the fact that I wasn't really interested in that, I was interested in my beer, not their topic. As far as the staff, they are all right, the beer is great, the decor is nice, but the attitudes of the management sometimes is pretty bad. They are not nearly as friendly as the people at the Rocky Mountain Tavern. Seoul Pub is all right.
I want to check out the Wolfhound. I am not dogging the people who go to 3 Alley or the food. I really like the food there. I just think the attitude could be better there from the management and those Hitler songs or whatever are really tacky. |

I don't think he likes the young esl types in his pub... You will find that there is a totally different perception of him among the older "professional" types and hakwon cowboys. I think he would like his bar to be, arrogantly enough, above "us". |

Not sure. Used to drink there a lot, and still get recognised, even if I haven't been back in over a year. Albert and Gunther both know I work in ESL and have never been anything but welcoming to me. Dunno if being 6'8 has anything to do with it, but probably not since he was mad enough to tackle two drunken Kiwis at the same time. |

You are 6'8? We met, you know. Several years back, at a carne station I think.... I remember the ultra tall dude with an Indonesian wife.
Anyways, I think that there is a very large difference between some of the older esl types and the young cowboys who act like asses all the time. No?
Either way, I'll never be there again. But I did like going there when I was in Korea. It felt like entering the West again. |

That would have been me, yes. Far out, hey? Anyhow, I know what you mean, however if you saw some of the older lads in my neck of the woods and how they acted at times, you might revise your theory. |
