So- i asked for 100,000 a month raise got that-

They are trying their best not to give me a travel allowance-

I know it isn't a Buddah given right that I get that- but others get it- and more importantly, if the school wants to stick me in an apartment 45 minutes away by bus- I dont think it is unreasonable.

The K liaison asked me what I would do if they cant give it to me- leaning towards fininding something else- pref someplace i can walk to.

However, I would like the 3 week trip back to home- if it wasnt for that- I would def find another job.

How much do you like the job? A 45-minute commute, while the norm back home, strikes me as ridiculous here.

Well that is the thing- it is a good job- not great - not horrible.

At my school most of the teachers at the school travel from other towns to the school ... So some sort of commute is normal to them ... It is not unknown here especially for people working or living in Seoul. We are about 30 minutes out of Seoul by bus ... so there are definitely Korean teachers at my school who travel similar distances to what you are talking about - For the right job I would do it ... So the main question that you need to answer for yourself ... is do you want this job ... or the 3 weeks holiday ... enough to do the commute for the year ... That is a question only you can answer

What about asking for a housing allowance instead and finding a place closer to work?

A housing allowance is ridiculous. You have to pay key money. Why the hell would anyone more or less short term want to pay key money?
