American football.....what pussi*s! We laugh at that sport in Britain. Take off all the protection and come try rugby Wink

No doubt rugby is a tough sport. BUT, because of the difference in the way the two games are structured, you don't get those vicious blind-side hits in rugby that you do in American football. If Americans were to take off the helmets and padding (which is minimal in professional ball), more people would die. Also, I have yet to see the average rugby team measure up to the the size of the average American football team. I've always wanted to see an all-star rugby team play one game of each sport with an all-star American football team and just see what happens. It would be interesting.

Yeah, keep smokin' that weed. I've watched some rugby and at its worst it's not as rough as American football.

As wannago has explained, the game is designed in such a way that speed changes the body impact. Despite padding, injuries abound, some even life-threatening. Same can't be said for rugby.

You take the NFL guys against the rugby guys and it would be no contest. Keep up the wishful thinking.

Baseball is not American. The honest ones on here know very well it is an adaptation of rounders.

This is not worth commenting on. You clearly don't know about rugby.

Helmets & a ton of other protection = pussi*s Laughing W
Rugby is for men my friend.

Those silly superfluous U's in words we Yanks spell like "color, flavor," etc.

I hate, hate, hate the pronunciation "shedule." I'd get past it if I ever heard a Brit pronounce "school" as shool. Both words have a Greek roots -- why the different treatment? I think it's just one of those things you guys do to make yourselves feel more different from Americans than you really are. At some conference a couple hundred years ago, you all got together and decided to come up with stupid ways of saying words that you could then mock us over. You are a linguistically evil people, that much is clear.

(Okay, though, I do appreciate the British pronunciation of "cretin," with the short E, as it helps me keep straight in my head when I'm talking about cretins and Cretans. If you happen to love -- or hate, for that matter -- a Cretan, this becomes important.)

Ummmm. I've only ever spent six hours in the UK, at Heathrow, but by all reports, I hate your weather. And just know this: it would be even worse if we didn't, in a staggering act of generosity, direct the Gulf Stream your way. So watch it. We have only so much patience for your linguistic evilness. Just one too many "shedules" could push us over the edge, and we'll give the Gulf Stream to Norway.

And what about the way you nasty yanks forget the o in oestrogen or the a in medieaval? Damn you. And why can't you get the r and the e the right way around in words like centre? Evil or Very Mad

WERE THEY TO PLAY RUGBY, HALF OF THEM WOULD DIE FROM HEART ATTACKS.

Again, more vowels than are needed. Extra O's, extra A's. Is there no end to your people's evil superfluity?

And as soon as you start pronouncing "centre" as "SEN-treh," we'll stop laughing at you for your spelling of it. Or are you really just FRENCH people, masquerading as English speakers? Damned closet Frogs.

I curse you! Twisted Evil

No, but you're quick enough to elect one though...twice.

As for the NFL, I don't see how you can compare it with Rugby when you only play for about 15 seconds at a time before one of the 17 refs then blows his whistle and everyone high-5s each other.

Granted, the two games are different, inasmuch that you can only tackle the player with the ball in Rugby, but even so, double hits by a pair of mobile 250lb+ (18st) prop forwards is pretty dangerous, especially when you're not wearing a Village People outfit.

While we're at it, Maple Syrup over bacon and eggs, WTF is that all about?
