It allows them to move faster while still looking prissy?
*shrugs* beat me.
Why the question? Does it bother you or are you curious? |

One theory I have is that it comes from six years of being screamed 'BALI! BALI!' at in middle and high school and having to run this way and that wearing flip-flop style slippers. Have you ever had to run across slipperly floors in those? Short, fast, shuffling steps is the way to go.
Of course that doesn't explain why men don't do it just as much. |

my school's having a sports festival today and I don't think it's limited to the girls. I also see a lot of boys who don't pick up their knees when running. Obviously, they've never had a coach throwing football helmets at them for proper motivation.
The baseball players being the exception, of course. Those kids can fly. |

I also noticed that Korean kids have no hand/eye coordination. I saw them playing dodgeball and teeball and none of the kids could catch.
They play soccer so much that they don't know how to use their hands. |

Taekwondo is also a "feet only" sport. |

Is it just me, or are people around here getting dumber by the minute? |

Preparing for that more aggressive elbow-in-the-ribs move of ajjumma-hood, I guess... |

| The physics of running in heels forces it? Running like Flo Jo is not lady like? |

Or basketball. Have you ever seen Korean high school girls try to play basketball? They can't catch, dribble, or shoot. They almost never play it just for fun but the one time I did see some playing it at lunch it looked like a cross between basketball and rugby. |

Could just be my school. I've seen these kids play teeball, volleyball, and dodgeball. These kids sucked balls in catching and throwing. They are very good at soccer though.
Could just be my school then. |

| alot of em are training for when they get married and have to wear a hanbok. If you wear a hanbok and run taking long steps, you trip on it and yourself. However, you can still walk in the hanbok OK because walking is smooth and steady and wont cause all the excessive flowy gawdy parts of the dress that exist from the chaste-waiste down to get all caught under your feet.... |
