My vote goes for the Actyon.

(Which, for the longest time, I thought was the ActVon. Ah yes, ActYon is MUCH better...)

This is not Korean, and not a car, but I saw a man in Seoul the other day riding a Japanese motorcycle, brand name: GRAND DINK.

Korando is apparently a contraction of "Korea Can Do".

I believe you, but I always think of 'Komodo dragon', that big monitor lizard in New Guinea. Something that battles godzilla while crushing Tokyo.

Bongo, the Ford pickup truck of Korea, sounds like the name of a clown. It's hard to get past that.

Potentia's my fave, tho. Guy behind the wheel must be/feel really potent-uh. Except it's a crappy car. Maybe it has built-in yarble massage, huh?

I've never heard of a japanese bike called Grand Dink, you're probably thinking of the Korean bike Kymco who produces their bikes in Taiwan. They have several interesting names for their bikes :

- Bet and win (??????)
- People
- Xciting
- Top boy
- Sooner
- Ego

What about the Daewoo Winstorm??
Did the drop the "d" in "wind" to make it sound cooler?
If so, they failed miserably.

If you manage to see an old model of Korean car called the 'Brougham' (sp?) you can see some classic Korean befuddlement.

It has the word 'Salon' proudly emblazed above the registration. But I think they meant 'Saloon'. As in the old name for that style of car. Still used in Britain. Instead, they spelled it in the way that means a hairdressers! Laughing

I am also perplexed by Kia 'Morning' and 'Lotze'......What is lotze?

"Rodius" because it rhymes with hideous?

No, it rhymes with odious.

"Verna"
Doesn't that have 1950's grandmother written all over it?

It won the coin-toss with "Mildred".

If you look at the Wikipedia article for Daewoo, it lists a number of cars, some of which have name explanations:

Quote:
Daewoo explained that the name Leganza originated from the combination of two Italian words - elegante (elegant) and forza (power).

Right. That's the one that makes most Westerners think of "lasagna" and Daewoo didn't care.

I believe the Bongo named after Omar Bongo, the president of Gabon. I read somewhere that once he visited one of the Korean presidents.

From me, on this board, possibly. He met Park.
