Possibly the worst movie I've seen in a while.
All over the place, singing and dance sequences, the same action sequences replayed again and again, characters changing their minds and motivation three or four times, and Spidey swinging past ol' glory as the crowd applauds wildly.
The only summer movie I've seen for this year, but I'm confident nothing could be as bad as this one. Barely worth a bootleg DVD at Yongsan. |

...Dammm! You are so wrong. In so many ways. First of all you have to see this on the big screen. Fine. Then there is the big one: everything about this movie is true to the comics. The tone. The shots. The lame-ass comedy. The story (minus a couple of small plot-points). The whole aesthetic. Seriously. I spent many formative years of my childhood obsessed with those comics. Sam Raimi is the man. + Bruce Campbell as the French waiter is awesome. |

Well, Let's see...
Spidey 1 - kinda bad
Spidey 2 - really bad
I kinda saw the trend...didnt you?
For my money the weakest superhero franchise going today |

...Compared to what? Fantastic Four? Hulk? The only franchise that's BETTER right now is the re-booted Batman. Otherwise Spidey leaves them in the (virtual, CGI generated) dust. |

What I like about you is how you're contrary and argumentative just for the sake of being contrary and argumentative. You're dependable like a rock in that respect. |

Dammm! MODs suck!
They apparently yanked the other SM3 thread that had my revised-lyrics-theme-song sendup of Spiderman 3.
Anyway, I actually fell asleep during Superman Returns, yet I liked it more than the latest Spiderman. I can't remember ever groaning, or groaning so much during a comicbook superhero movie as I did with SM3. |

I didn't like Spiderman 2 as much as the first one, however I saw the third one on IMAX and it was pretty good. |

I agree, quite crappy.
The whole series has been pretty crappy. Wrong lead actors, too much CGI.
X-Men are pretty much the only comic book (mainstream) movies that I've liked. And they just barely passed |

I've liked every one of the Batman movies. Yes, one or two arguably stunk at some level, and I even concur with most of those arguments. But all the same, I liked them. Don't care who plays the lead, they're just fun to watch.
Spiderman, Spiderman
Does whatever a spider can
Like swing from a tall building, or swing from a different tall building, or swing from yet another tall building. Swing, fall, swing, fall, swing and fall from very tall buildings. With such expansive background scenery, how do they manage to make viewers feel so claustrophobic? And bored?
And I just can't warm to the characters. I just don't care about their pasts, their issues, their relationships. I just wanted the movie to be over. |

agree with the OP ...Spiderman 3 sucked balllls....the cliche lines between Peter Park and his friend were painful....The only time spider man was cool was when he had that damn alien demon suit on...Ditch Mary Jane and be a player....
oh yeah Bruce Campell is great though and I did like the sandman character although I kept feeling like he was a rip off from Mr. Freeze... |

You liked those movies?
Spiderman has to be the lamest superhero ever. He is atleast in the top 5.
Now, Batman, there is a superhero. Bruce Wayne is cool and Batman is just a dark tour de force. Batman Begins was one damn good movie. They didnt have to rely on too much CGI, both Batman and the Scarecrow were great characters. Now look at Spidey. Peter Parker is a loser, Spiderman can climb buildings and shoot a spiderweb....all while being an absolute dork. Spiderman is crap. Spiderman villains are idiotic, and while I havent (and wont) seen Spidey 3, the first two were enough to turn me off that idiotic franchise for good.

See, thats essentially the difference between the 2 franchises. Batman is such a cool character that even when you put a flaming homo at the helm of the franchise and he gays it up worse than Octavius Hite in a Bangkok bathhouse, the movies still come out better than Spiderman done as well as possible. Now, I will disagree with you, the first two Batman movies were great. The first one with the Joker was a really good movie, the second one was quite good, then they went down the toilet after that. BUT they were still better than Spiderman 1 or 2. But Batman done really well, that makes for an awesome movie. The charcter has depth and darkness, and that makes for a great adult movie. The new movies should be great, and the best villain ever invented, the Joker, will make his appearance in the next one. What's left for Spiderman? |

I liked it, but it wasn't as good as it could be. It's definitely a comic book movie. It made the same fatal flaw that many other comic book movies have. Too many villains and too many attempts at subplots.
comic books are serials and often have story arcs over several issues. You can't do that in a 2 hour 15 minute movie. For comic books to be properly done it needs to be a TV series. See Smallville or Heroes for excellent examples of comic books on the screen.
superman returns was utter crap. Batman I and II were excellent - III was okay and IV sucked ass. However Batman Begins was kickass.
The Hulk was very good despite what the public thinks and Fantastic Four sucked ass. I can't believe their going to make a second one in that series.
The comic book hero that I want to see on the big screen is The Green Lantern. Also DC should get around to doing a JLA movie (or series - great story arc in Smallville season 6) ala the Xmen franchise. |
