This is really irritating me.

As of 6pm Friday night May 11, 2007, GEPIK (Wenise Kim) told me on the phone that it was NOT CANCELLED. There WILL be a training session in Suwon Monday, May 14th, 2007.

For those that have been told its canceled, could you have your school verify? If it really is canceled and even Wenise Kim doesn't know then there will be a lot of angry people who get stuck waiting at Byeongjeom Station for the Resort shuttle bus.

You say your school received a fax, could you call your school tomorrow and ask for the the contents of the fax? Could you school forward that fax to other schools? I know the schools have a list of all the new native teachers in the area.

Also, if your school says its canceled, can you post the name/locaiton of your school. I would like to call Wenise Kim tomorrow, and it would help if I could say "XYZ Elementary School received notice Friday afternoon that the session was canceled."

You can PM me the info so that you aren't posting your information for all to see.

Hahahahahahahahah!!!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing

What a cluster f*ck.

No one knows WTF is going on. Laughing Laughing Laughing

If I was a PS teacher which I'm glad I'm not, I wouldn't even worry about the BS. If someone from your school said not to go then don't go. If they say go, then go.

WTF is the big deal? Rolling Eyes

This is way way too funny. Laughing Laughing Laughing

My sentiments exactly. If it IS canceled when I get down there, I'm just gonna take the 4 days off. Come back to my school on Friday and say "Oh yeah, the training was canceled. Didn't you get the memo?"

I guess that it is a big deal to those people who did not just see it as a compulsory thing they "must attend"... but who actually felt like they would get some benefit from it ... in one way or another... and who have been waiting for some time for this to actually happen ... and then had it possibly cancelled at the very last minute ...

Ok, I had my co teacher call today and verify. I also called Wenise Kim back and she verified.

The GEPIK training session IS NOT CANCELED.

Those of you whose schools told you it was, I'm thinking it was a bad choice of words. Instead of "canceled" I think they meant "its still going on, but you are suppose to go."

There is a big difference between saying an event is "canceled" and "you aren't going."

Once again, for the last time, the GEPIK event IS NOT CANCELED. My coteacher called GEPIK directly, I spoke to Wenise Kim, and my cousin in Suwon even called La Vie D'or resort and THEY confirmed it.

You may be right.

I spoke with my co-teacher and she said that I don't have to go. Different to yesterdays it's not on.

In a pickle now do I go or do I stay.

If you don't gotta go and you feel like it won't help you at all then don't go.

The only reason I can think of GEPIK telling people not to come is because there aren't enough rooms. Which means if you aren't going to this one, then they'll make you come to the next one. I just want to get it out of the way.

I was set to go. Even fairly optimistic about parts of it.

Had a schedule worked out for the next few weeks to try and balance out the missing lessons and all the days off for May. However there are so many lessons being missed it's better for me to be here.

I was looking forward to the swimming pool. Razz

Now I have to spend my weekend replanning the next three weeks so that the lessons get back into sync.

However with the cock up with this one I won't be going to another even if I do feel it benefits me or not, it may only mean four days off work but it could end up with spending a weekend reorganizing things again because they decide to change their minds again at the last minute and call up schools.

If that is the case then those people who don't want to go ... or who have experience here that means they don't need to go ... or will find it a waste of time should not be going ... especially if it is stopping people who really do need it from being allowed to go ... This coming up has been the main thing which has kept me going the last couple of weeks .. I need it

Shocked

I'm not sure you do. Buy a book about EFL teaching instead and spend the 4 days reading it.

I recommend "Teaching English to Koreans". Useful.

Its on. Read my post earlier. I've had it confirmed with 3 VERY credible sources.

I'm pretty sure if Wenise Kim, Gimpo Gyeongi-do Education Office, and La Vie D'or Resort all say its going on then its still going on.
