Hi,

I can say I enjoy Korean food much more.

Japanese food is bland, no spices, no taste, no excitement...its very light, weak and should I say boring as hell. (I am talking about Jap. food in Jap.)

Korean food is more down-to-earth, spicier, heavier, more to make you feel happy and stuff...

I can not phatom why people like Japan so much more than Korea....its so sterile in Japan vs. Korea...Dunno...

On the other hand, I think Japanese food is way better than Korean food. Surprise, surprise, people have different tastes in food.

I prefer Japanese food. It's much healthier and cleaner.

Well, you have a thing called Japanese cuisine. There is no such thing as Korean cuisine, go figure out why not.

I prefer Japanese food. Greatly prefer it, actually.

Korean food tastes mostly the same. Virtually everything is spiced with red chili peppers in some way or another. Bleck.

Japanese food, otoh, does not overwhelm you with its seasonings: it's subtle. And I prefer the seasoning in Japanese food, too (whatever they are exactly).

Give me a Japanese beef and rice bowl over any Korean meal any day.

The funny thing though is that the Portuguese only introduced red peppers to the Koreans like 200 years ago. Imagine what Korean food was like back then before gochujang - "Why yes, Mr. KimSi, I would like some tree bark with my weeds, with the soy sauce, sang yu belly much-ee!".

Ugh

And the Spanish only brought tomatoes to Europe 500 years ago. So what?

Japanese food: Art form.

Korean food: Some starving person found some cr@pp somewhere and didnt want to have to taste the undigested bits that fecal cr@pp... so that person put a bunch of nasty spices and strong flavors to try to hide the true taste of the cr@pp.... Later, someone came along and made it and food like it into the national dishes of Korea.

i like korean food better.
i like spicy food and i like some of the non-spicy korean foods like bulgogi and the chinese-korean food.

japanese food is OK sometimes, but i'm not a big fan of sashimi, i don't like innards (and japanese ppl seem to love eating livers, kidneys and other bits like that), i don't like daikon.

i love fish and udon...and oyakodon...and okonomiyaki...and soba...yeah. but most of what i like in japan is like japanese-chinese food or japanese-indian food (curry rice).

oh yeah, and as to japanese food being super healthy?
japanese ppl LOVE fried food just as much...if not more than koreans.
chicken HAS to be fried, and pork...
karaage is ok sometimes but not all the time.

Didn't think I needed to bother, but since you asked:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuisine_of_Korea Enough said.

Korean food without red peppers off the top of my head:

Samgyetang

Seoulleongtang

Galbitang

Jokbal

Naengmyeon ø

Sundae

"Korean sushi" ȸ

I could go on and on but I'm getting bored. Most types of meat eaten "BBQ" style are cooked without any seasoning and it's up to you if you want to eat it with red pepper paste .

jeez.. a simple discussion about food degenerates into a typical i-hate-korea fest. sadly predictable though.. i'm leaving korea really soon, mainly because i no longer enjoy living here. but i know that if i read this forum one year from now, i'll see the same people (still living here, the masochists) complaining about anything related to korea.
anyway 닭도리탕 and 삼겹살 rock. even if i hated korea, i'd still love 'em.

Nice try. Dalkdoritang is Japanese, not Korean, like oh, maybe 90% of the things in this country?
