Talked to a Filippino today, gave me this acronymn: CIST. I said, What does it mean?
Comfort, Intelligence, Security and Technology.
"Why are you telling me this?" I asked.
"It's the basis of the American culture", he added. "It's how you have to live here."
I was impressed, hearing such insight and inspiration that Filippinos-and those untainted by liberals alike-have gained by my country and one which has given them so much encouragement.
I mean, by comfort he'd meant that 'the way Americans were living' wasn't greedy, or selfish, or bad. But coming from a poor country, and unlike others who might be spoiled, he looked up to this standard of living. I mean, don't you? Don't you feel living here should be up to par with the way you expect to live back home?
What's more, he didn't brand Americans as stupid, but intelligent; didn't say that they were 'war mongers' but instead fought for security reasons; and he definitely didn't put us in the dark ages with our technological achievements.
Bottom line is, we don't know how much good there is out there-and that in America-because we hear so much that's negative and fomented by liberal thinking.
Mind you, this man, and most Filippinos alike, are Christian as well, which says a lot in and of itself. |
