Quote:
Two years ago, former senator John Edwards of North Carolina, gearing up for his second run at the Democratic presidential nomination, gave a speech decrying the "two different economies in this country: one for wealthy insiders and then one for everybody else."

Four months later, he began working for the kind of firm that to many Wall Street critics embodies the economy of wealthy insiders -- a hedge fund.

Personally, I want to believe him, but come on, "Working for experience while he makes a ton of contributions from them?"

In a past career I made a lot of money chasing ambulances, and got a lot of money for people who had been royally shafted by the system. 800,000 thousand (in Canada, the land of small judgements) for a woman left widowed with four kids. I got 160,000 and she got the rest. The insurance company then got the well deserved shaft.

I wouldn't vote for Edwards because he's a Democrat. But he would be a lott better than Barak Hussein Obama or Hillary (stand by your man) Clinton.

I prefer John Edwards over Hillary Clinton. I am not sure if I prefer him over Barak Obama whose mother is from Kansas and his father is from Kenya, and who, despite his middle name, is a Christian. Edwards does have more experience than Obama. He seems more affable than Hillary Clinton, but will the establishment approve of him. I don't expect any politician not have certain business links that someone might not be crazy about. Both sides have that in most cases.

I've always found it strange that Republicans who own huge oil empires or military Haliburton companies are somehow pure and good and godly. But if a Democratic has any business dealings of any kind whatsoever, even a hedge fund, he is deemed completely immoral and unelectable.

You dont get it? Its simple. Democrats are criticized because more often than not they say they are against big business, connections with private companies. In essence the whole democratic party is a bunch of hypocrits and liars. Edwards is a typical democrap hypocrite. Ambulance chasing sleazeball.

Democrats aren't preaching about the evils of money and having a career and being financially savvy is evil and wrong. They just try to equal things things out. Even if a person is going to have tons of wealth, its in societies best interest to NOT have the masses being in dire poverty all around you. It's an effort to somewhat make an effort to distribute the wealth a bit to those who aren't always born into the same opportunities.

I don't get how working for a hedge fun and having interest in helping out those less fortunate is somehow sinful or hypocritical or whatever else.

Personally, I would never vote for a Democrat. But I enjoy a nice cool Obamma Slamma (w' the pic of a black guy with a big grin and a bunch of missing teeth on the label) once in a while but, I couldn't vote for someone I've never heard of until a few months back.

Don't lie. Lying is bad. You are bad.

What Democrats say, in fact, is that workers should be fairly paid and PACs and Big Business have no business in funding elections.

Don't lie. Lying is bad. You are bad.

Are there other companies that could have taken on the responsibilities that Haliburton did? Regardless, I don't think anyone said it was pure/godly. What makes it particularly suspect is that Haliburton was in the position that it was. There's a saying and it says, "be beyond reproach." Too bad Dick didn't know this about Haliburton. Personally, I think he is too smart for his own good. He had the foresight to see that wars were coming and managed the company so that it would be positioned for reaping off of wars.

However, Edwards is taking it on this one, because he speaks out against poverty/big business while taking a job with this hedge fund. Which makes most of its money off of mortage loans to the poor. Who often default, to the tune of 2 million this year, and go into bankrupcy. The hedge fund that Edwards worked at was one of the main lenders and are awash in bad loans.

Edwards is the typical democrap hypocrite. Hillary is another. Only Obama seems to hold up to scritiny but we dont know anything about him. Back to Edwards, this ambulance chasing sleazeball is the moral equivalent of a Wonderland wonjangnom. But dont let me sway you, just look at this guy's record:
From Wikipedia

Quote:
Edwards became an associate at the law firm of Dearborn & Ewing in 1978, doing primarily trial work, defending a Nashville bank and other corporate clients

See, for me theres nothing shameful here. It would be fine were he a Republican, as I have nothign against big business. They need protection from sleazeball sharks (but back to that later). The thing is that him running out of the democrap camp, this screams HYPOCRISY. Back to the sleazeball shark bit

Quote:
Before entering politics, Edwards was a personal injury trial attorney. He represented families and children, and specialized in corporate negligence and medical malpractice claims. Edwards made his personal fortune through his trial successes and his 2003 financial disclosure forms showed a total net worth between $12.8 and $60 million.[6] Edwards was criticized for paying himself mostly through subchapter S corporate dividends, rather than a salary, to take advantage of a tax-law loophole that allowed him to avoid paying $591,000 in Medicare taxes; Edwards claimed that he chose the subchapter S structure to protect his assets from liability.[7]

So, not only was he a sleazeball ambulance chaser, he was a tax criminal too!
