In the light of all the commentary on the Sunkist lemonade commercials, what are some of the most freaky/annoying/strange/addicting/horrific/
stick-in-your-mind-all-day commercials you've seen here? I thought this subject deserved its own thread...

I'd include commercials from back home too but it's been so long since I've watched TV there I can't remember any! And maybe that's something more for the Off-Topic forum anyways...

I don't watch much TV, but when I do there are some commercials that make me cringe and grit my teeth but can't help watch in horrified fascination:

1. Leeeh-leeeh-lehmonaaaaduhhhhh.....
2. Hyundai Capital Prime Loan
3. The four men and a baby commerical where the baby pees all over everything and everyone. Not funny.
4. Mooeeejun mooeejun mooeejun... Rushie and Cashie... (this one annoys me so bad I have to change the channel)

In the seriously messed- up department, what about the Tucson car commercial where the guy hits the girl across the face (edited out recently!). And I just saw another one yesterday, I don't know what the commercial was for but it involved two guys holding the arms of a girl in an alley while a third one slaps her across the face... what's THAT one about??

Can't remember any more right now...

The one with Moby playing in the background and a rather queer Korean guy and my late father`s cousin, James Dean, walking by looking at each other makes me want to vomit.

The Deans should sue for defamation of character.

The Hyundai capital prime loan is freaking scary all those blond people and fake hair...like village of the damned on steroids. There is another one that uses plastic blowup dolls. I swear the girl ones look like something they gave my brother at his bachelor party...creeeeepy.

Sunkist commercials are in league all by themselves.

The effing Ilac commercial. It has this ridiculously obnoxious song that gets stuck in my head even though I don't know the words. (In my brain it's Na na nana...Iiiiiiiiiiilac!) It's the one where the woman is walking around in town drinking Ilac and having her skirt blow up in the wind. The worst part is that my students sing it sometimes too.

The one that makes me want to throw the tv out of the window involves an older women wearing a hanbook in a garden with some servants. She is yelling at the top of her lungs, which always blares oh so loudly at the beginning of the commercial, thus giving no warning to change the channel. It is some drink they are advertising but holy shnikies I want to fight that lady!

Edit. Okay, another commercial I just saw is the one were the woman rides a horse into a house and suddenly she is riding some weird Panasonic pelvic-humping-exercise machine. Odd.

Shot of Korean car (with Korean speaking)

1. Japanese (Toyota/Lexus/Nissan/Honda)--"What are we going to do? They are coming!"

2. Germans (BMW/Mercedes)--"Damnit! Their one step ahead of us."

3. Italians (Ferrari)--"Korean genius! Enzo's rolling in his grave."

4. Americans (Ford/Chrysler/whatever)--"They've done it. We completely underestimated the Koreans."

Shot of Korean car with Korean voice.

End.
That sounds racist to me. Rolling Eyes

Me, too. And what's ironic is that Dean acted in a car crash scene in Rebel Without a Cause and died in one in real life.

But that new Sunkist ad really grates on me. I just want to beech-slap that guy back to reality. Gay pride is one thing but celebrating effeminate behavior in heterosexual men doesn't appeal to me.

the rusheee casheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee one drives me up the mother f*cking wall.

i even asked my students it was bothering me so much. i said: what does moo-eee-jah mean? apparently it means "low interest". they said they have a lot of disrespect for seeing famous comedians/singers pimp high-interest loans disguised as low-interest rushee casheee.

it's funny i was actually considering starting this thread myself...i have a tendency to nap/fall asleep with the TV on...and i've had instances where leaving the TV on gives me really freaky dreams. needless to say...korean TV commercials are wreaking havoc on my psyche. i'm having some of the most ridiculously disturbing dreams i've ever had and I wake up watching the sunkist/rusheecashee/hyundai capital prime loan/etc... i've always been a very very active dreamer but these are leaving me wonder whether I need a psychotherapist. don't underestimate the power of subliminal messaging...

The best one was the too-short KTX advert with that really beautiful tune - Heartbeats by Joze Gonzales - designed to bring all Korea into close contact but which brought me right back to European, Utopian bliss.

oh yeah, on message>?

Is that rushie and cashie ad still on?.. jees, I can remember trying to teach some of my adult student's something by means of its example... Thank the lord I can't remember how exactly,...
