I have been here two months and am getting ripped off. My school is changing my working hours and giving me no pay for over time. I have tried to talk to them about it but they are playing dumb.
Another school is willing to take me on and I need to know how to get a release letter out of them. Also, how are my chances of getting my bond for my apartment back??
And one more thing, what are the chances of my new school being able to take over the lease on my apartment so that I don't have to move... am I dreaming?? |

It's an artform in this country: how to play dumb to prevent facing up to reality.

I don't know about the rest, but I hope you come out of this situation as well as could be hoped. |

Call the Labor Board. Someone will post the number soon. I should write it down....
Getting a release letter will be extremely tough. Why would they want to let go an employee they are fleecing? You may be better off fighting for the money you are due. |

These people are violating your contract. I don't know what you could do besides speaking to an English speaking representative the Labour Board. In an extreme circumstance, you can jump ship and come back.
Keep us posted, Jane. |

For the housing questions, post on this forum-

They're changing hours and not paying OT? You can legally refuse to work OT. That's a start. Save your pay stubs and guard them. Make copies.
Filing with labor is easy but winning at labor requires documentation. When you file with labor you will need the help of a friend who speaks Korean- all of the forms are in Korean. When you file a complaint there, it only takes a few minutes to file and then you will be given a hearing date (usually 2-3 weeks in the future). GUARD your documents during this time. Once you file at labor, post on here and more advice can be given. |

Yes and it's a nightmare. You've taught for two months and you haven't been paid for overtime? Have you been paid for any overtime? |
