Why? Col. Qaddafi is a good man, if a bit idiosyncratic. I'm sure he wouldn't wish a blood clot on you. |

No, he wouldn't wish something like a blood clot on any infidel. He would wish something much more terrible. Qaddafi a good man...what a load of crap. |

Let's hope for the sake of my good friend's Libyan family that it is not. He's often remarked that at least while Qaddafi is the undisputed leader, there is no likelyhood of greater bloodshed. |

And how long must a strongman rule that nation to keep various tribes of the ROP from tearing eachother apart? |

Any likelihood of you learning how to spell better?
My family lived in Tripoli before and after Qaddafi came to power. My father met him at the air base at Wheelus. He was a crackpot then with a huge chip on his shoulder. He did manage to bring his country out of utter poverty, mainly by nationalizing British oil interests.
But then we know he was a state sponsor of terrorism. Reagan changed that real quick--something Carter would never have had the ba-lls to do.
So, Big Chick, the best we can hope for is a "lesser of the two evils" among leaders in the Arab world? Not exactly a ringing endorsement or show of faith in your dear brethren, eh? |

Actually, I _was_ just joking.
Don't forget, though, we did cap his daughter as payback. |

Back in the good ol' days when terrorist supporters were actually punished. I wonder when we can expect a few Saudi princes to get whacked? Or all of them. |

How would this be for a red-letter day?: Qaddafi, Castro and Kim Jong-il all croaking on the same day.
PS Throw in Mugabe for good measure.... |

It would be a great drunk!
But just for BLT's sake, I'll include Bushy in that list too. The "Thank god he is gone" parties in America are going to be great in a year and a half. |

Ah, the saddam defence: Hussein argued that he had to rule with an iron fist to prevent sectarian bloodshed on the streets and civil war.
The argument is carrying a bit of weight these days.
As is the CIA preference for assassinations and coups as methods of achieving pro-American regime change. |

Libya is one of the most oppressive regimes on the planet. You think that regime is a good thing? |
