Unfortunately I've never seen this in Korea.

I have been drooling over Archos players for years. I would kill for one!

You're right, they are not available in Korea, AT ALL. Though, lots of British stores online will ship to Korea if you can sort out payment issues with them. Archos players can be a fair bit more expensive than most of the other PMP and MP3 players on the market, but that could be easily justified by the fact that they are basically the best and most leading edge out there. I mean, 7" screens have just come into the mainstream in the last year or so, but even the Archos AV400 had that size of a screen and that was released in like 2004.

I mean, Archos players have always had exceptional functionality and sweet things like line-in ports, but until recently I've never drooled over them because they looked fugly. Plus, they had bad battery life, I heard.

Anyhow, it's no matter now. Archos seems to have put some focus on design recently.

Hi Rockgirl,

Not sure about the prices. Where are you located?

Here's what I found :

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16855228008

for $189.

Or from Canada :

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=66108F&vpn=D2-4096WH&manufacture=COWON%20AMERICA%20INC

I'm loving the D2, having just bought a pair of headphones for it.

Do take a look at the player first before you buy it as it is not a typical mp3 player.

Right now, I'm downloading a whole lot of videos from youtube right into the D2, really easy Very Happy

I've been drooling over it since you first posted. I'm trying to justify spending the extra to buy one. Had planned to get a Nano, but the lyrics function and the multiple ops just thrill my little techno-geek heart.

The touch screen and the overall look is sweet. For $189 I think it's worth he difference. Is it possibe to load my iTunes music to it? There must be a decent ripper that can get past the lock.

Just don't use i-tunes. You won't need music management software with that Cowon or any non-apple portable device. Just drag and drop using XP. Free yourself from the grip of Apple!!! Laughing

You could just get the 2GB version and buy SD cards (4GB or 8GB). I decided that it would be better to get the 4GB version because of the convenience. Not only do I have hundreds of albums but I've also got loads of videos and 3 movies on it already (Bladerunner, Iwo Jima and 300). I know space would eventually become a premium, but it accepts SD cards so you'll have no limits. A 4GB card is 42,000 won (probably cheaper if you shop around). That's about 1000 songs already or 10-12 movies, or 800 youtube videos Very Happy I really like the idea of using removable storage as they are easier to move around and transfer files. All my friends have SD/memory card slots in their notebooks (except the Macs of course) so trading stuff is a breeze.

I think you'll love the Lyrics function. Best thing about it was that it could also read Korean and Japanese lyrics.

That I don't really know I'm afraid. I know that to load iTunes music into another portable media player would be to rip the songs to CDs and convert them back to MP3s. Of course, there is probably a better way out there. You're best forgetting about iTunes altogether.

Yeah, looked at the 2GB. for $30..... 4GB? Guess spending that on a card might be a better idea. Keep looking at the cheaper, fewer bells and whistles models but they don't make my heart pound.

Probably will give in to the smile. Thanks for the link to newegg.

No problem, let us know how you go. I believe they have the D2 in pink but that's the DMB version.

just got a d2 4 gig black (no dmb) a few days ago. love it so much. it's so sleek. all my songs on it are flacs, though, so i need some sd cards! i paid 229,000 for it a yongsan. i ordered some behind-the-head headphones to make it easier to use when biking.

i've seen 8 gig hdsd cards for 77,000 won on danawa ( http://pc.danawa.com ) and gmarket. gonna pick up a few next week. also once i fix my computer i will reencode all the tv shows on my computer so i can watch them on it.
