It's a portrayal of Koreans that move to the USA, the people Chappelle has met. It's also an exaggeration. Dave probably hasn't met many Koreans in Korea, nor many Koreans in the states that are in businesses outside of cornershop retail stores.

I love Dave and his work, but how can a Korean be called Mr. Fong? There is no F in the Korean language.

That's exactly the first thing I thought: He can't be Korean if his name is Mr. Fong!

in fact, the Chinese place my family visits back home is called Ah Fong's.

Thanks. I thought I was being pedantic for a minute.

Hmm... but he also said he "hates" 1 out of 5 Koreans he's ever met. Do you think if he were in Korea for a while as opposed to the U.S. that ratio would go up or down? of course its just a joke, but just wondering...

I was reading today that Ah before a Chinese name means 'little'. Little Fong's. I wonder if that's where the Korean practice of putting 'ah' after a kid's name came from..

Btw, I couldn't make it through more than 25 seconds of his poem. The Fong thing was kinda lame and ruined it for me.

I laughed... noticed the "Fong" and wondered if he had said either "Bong" or "Hong" at later times, both of which are family names. Not his greatest but still quite funny.

Lighten up, francis-etymology dork. His reading style was creative, and the message was spot on.
