I know some creative people. They dont like Harry Potter.

I know some uncreative people.. .they seem to like Harry Potter alot.

Koreans like Harry Potter alot. Koreans society is also not creative.

I am not saying I believe it; just putting it out there:

Could it be that creative people dont enjoy fantasy-type movies and shows because they enjoy creating thier own such things? And then, maybe people who dont have alot of creative spunk enjoy fantasy-things because they are trying to fill some kind of void?

PS if you like Harry Potter and you think you are creative, dont take it personally; I just didnt see anything else on the boards tonight worth posting to so I am starting my own thread.

Yeah, you're right.

And did you ever notice that the covetous Jews are genetically programmed to dominate the Christian world? Funny, huh?

Now, see, it just because of forums like this one that people like you go putting up nonsense like what you said above and ... POOF! we have nazis geez.

Seriously, is it just me, or do most ppl who are computer programers, mathematicians, and langage geeks LOVE Harry Potter whereas people who are into art, creative writing, pulling crazy-arse theories like the one I just made, and telling funny stories totally bored with Harry Potter?

Harry Potter is generic, kiddy trash written by a no-talent writer for moronic kids. Seriously read some decent kids authors like CS Lewis, Tolkien or Philip Pullman. All have written fantasy which is far superior to Potter. Potter is the Da Vinci Code for kids.

1.) Harry Potter is popular worldwide not just in Korea.

2.) People used to talk the same kind of rubbish about the Beatles, and for the same reason: to try to show they're better than everyone else. (Not that I'm implying a real comparison between HP and the Beatles).

3.) Harry Potter is the first of it's genre to move from children's toward adult fiction, keeping pace with its characters as they grow up. That's original (even though clearly most of the rest of it is well in line with the established tradition of kids literature).

I remember going to watch that first Harry Potter movie in the theaters...not knowing anything about the book..but being a lover of fantasy movies..I decided to give it a shot. Slept through almost the whole goddamn thing. Tried to convince the girl I was with to give me a handjob...but decided against it....

Kind of strange that you tried to get a handjob when you were surrounded by hundreds of little kids.

I also think one has to separate the books from the movies. I've read all the books and seen all the movies, and I have to say the books blow the movies away. It's quite easy to get bored watching an 11-year-old with no acting experience pretend to be a wizard. And the books, while certainly geared towards a younger audience, can be enjoyable for any age.

Most of my horribly uncreative, engineer/computer geek friends don't read Harry Potter. They tend not to read all that much, actually.

How the hell could you sleep through that movie?
With all the kids crying, talking and asking stupid questions...I couldn't sleep a wink.

I know very few people, kids/adults who think that rowlings is a no-talent.
In fact, of the four writer friends i have, they can go on and on about the "little" things that she does well.
I've neer read a book though so i can't say.

And I wouldn't call tolkien's books particularly "for kids"; at least nothing past the hobbit. I can't even imagine tucking my kids into bed at night with the silmirillion.

I watch a lot of movies. I watched all of these ones (I think), but usually as a last resort and at home. If I were back home, I'd smoke a doobie, watch it, and think about something else.

Background noise. Very unsatisfying movies.

I think she works very hard at what she does and puts a lot of thought into it.
