Yeah, keep smokin' that weed. I've watched some rugby and at its worst it's not as rough as American football.
As wannago has explained, the game is designed in such a way that speed changes the body impact. Despite padding, injuries abound, some even life-threatening. Same can't be said for rugby.
You take the NFL guys against the rugby guys and it would be no contest. Keep up the wishful thinking. |
Here's a few people that disagree
Getting 'rucked' (1:50s & 2:40s) in the face is pretty dangerous too.
*EDIT* More of England in this one |

| NFL...........lick my backwheels.........they couldn't play rugby...they are a bunch of neanderthals pre-programmed to do one thing...and as for your comments about speed changes the body's impact mate....bollox....get yourself on a biomechanics for beginners course....force is force..mass is mass.... the faster you hit something the greater the force. Secondly....go ask anyone who has been tackled by Jonah Lomu if it's safe..then get back to me. Thirdly, if you look at physiological data relating to the two sports then rubgy players relative VO2 max is higher............get that in ya' dude '. |

Oops!! Your age is showing again!
Better tuck that back in.
Rugby is a hard-nosed sport, no doubt. But you would last about zero seconds on an NFL field.

I just made my comment on an edit, but you piped in with your over-active keyboard skills before I could get it in.
Something tells me you are like this in real life. Are you a know-it-all blowhard? You sure seem like it.
Tell you what. While you're pitching the ball to your teammate, I'll be the one running up from the blindside to deck you. |

LOL
I do hope that we're all typing with smiles on our faces. I'd hate to see this spill into anything other than friendly banter.
Personally, I'd just like to make it clear that I have the utmost respect for the NFL, despite not knowing anything about it. There are some rather large lumps who play it who'd certainly trample me in to the dirt.
I think all contact sport is great. Playing it really sets you apart from all the other non-contact sports, which are generally skill based, whereas contact sports require skill, strength, determination and, most importantly, a solid team ethic. |

Where the hell is that? Do you mean Gangnam? I'm not getting in the car to drive all over Korea with my gay boyfriends just to ruin your day. Clarification please.

Actually, I don't care who knows. Other posters have been there.
I own Moon bar in Ilsan, Dae-wha-dong, near Dae-Jin high school. You can't miss it.
See you there!! |

| I'm there now. Thought I'd come and watch, but there's only this old Korean guy in a tight pink t-shirt, I think he keeps suggesting we play some contact sport in the lavatories. Might as well whilst I'm waiting for you guys to turn up. |

How much fudge could a fudge packer fudge if a fudge packer could pack fudge? |

^That's interesting.
You should think about showing the Rugby World Cup later this year.
I guarantee that every Pomm, Welshman, Scot, Irishman, Aussie, Kiwi, S.African and (possibly) Canuck will be in there wanting to exchange their hard earned dosh for your beer.
You'll make a bomb.
