i have a couple of bank accounts, one with KEB and the other Nonhyup
my question is, would they be a "checking" or "savings" account?
they are just regular bank accounts. just the basic ones they give you. they gave me a bank book and card
i have had a problem with wire transfers from abroad. they get rejected, so im thinking this may be a cause of that.
thx |

what was that supposed to mean??
i think youre the one you be asked that question
since you probably never did a wire transfer in your LIFE before, ill explain.
when sending one, you gotta provide your home bank the correct info, INCLUDING whether the account is a savings or checking account. so i need to know if the normal bank accounts that korean banks give is one or the other?? it does not show which i have on the bank books
NOW do you understand??? |

KoreaKing, I may be wrong, but from what I understand it is a savings account if they give you a "book" and a card. Apparently these cards can't always be used internationally either. Ask the bank to give you their SWIFT number. It is the number banks use to transfer funds between banks. I hope this helps and I hope you manage to get the issue resolved. |

I understand the confusion, but the answer is you just need a target address.
Bank's physical address, your name, and account number. Your account number determines whether it is a checking or savings account.
As long as you get that information correct, a Korean bank should have no problem.

Do you get cheques? Didn't think so. It's a saving account. |

my account is a checking/saving with checks
OP: call your bank or email them and ask who their sister bank is in korea, the wires will be cheaper and go smother. if it's not a bank u have an account with now, close it and open an account at the bank ur home bank says is their sister bank |

C'mon, don't beat around the bush. You really want a money loan and are afraid to ask for one. We are all teachers here; how much do you need? School not paying you on time? I can give you a good interest rate. As for the wire transfers, just ask the bank to give you their info to give to your bank. Pretty easy, huh? |

Ignore the trolls...
Mark it as a savings account and make sure the address is perfectly written in Western style and order. I have made money transfers before and never had a problem, other than the excesive transfer fee that the rat-bastards charged me. |
