I have no objections to dating a Korean woman, but I'm not going to Korea to go "wife hunting". If it happens, it happens.

Though I'm not in Korea yet, from what I've seen around this forum and what I've heard about from friends and relatives that have went to Korea (in two cases marrying a Korean), it is so common that it is safe to assume they're somewhat used to it. I think some people would frown on it, I'm reading a lot about Korea and lineage seems to be very important. Not to make Koreans sound like eugenicists, but some Koreans might not be comfortable with the bloodline aspect (dating outside of the race).

Then again, I'm not in Korea yet. I'm just reading books about it.

Ignore them like you would in America...

I'm not even Korean and I've gotten comments and looks for dating a white guy in Korea...

Screw them! Their opinion isn't worth a 10 won Laughing

One middle-aged man who apparently look homeless spat at my wife last night because he heard her talking to me on the phone in English. That sort of thing happens but most of the time it just makes them look like freaks.

You'll probably get more flak because you look Korean but don't speak the language.

It will rarely, if ever, be a problem.

Now, if you were a girl born and raised in Korea and were dating an English teacher your PARENTS might have a problem and your friends might tell you to stop wasting your time and find a nice Korean guy you can marry, but strangers would not likely be openly hostile. Sometimes it happens, but not often.

I once met a woman in exactly your position. It was only a problem if she was making a public display of affection, and that may have happened even if her bf was Korean. In a small town it would be more of a problem.

I've been with my 한국 여자친구 for almost two years and the only bad incident I can remember was a drunk buisness man yelling some profanities at us while walking on the street.

But for the most part, I've had no problems at all. And we hold hands, hug at stop lights, and sometimes kiss openly.

I have dated my girlfriend for over 2 years and we have never really had a real problem. One guy spat towards me on the subway, so I just got even closer to my gf to really piss him off, and all he did was stare at me. You will get looks a lot, but that's pretty much the end of it, just looks.

There are a few things on this message board that people talk about all the time, but I've never actually seen in person. One is Canadians with Canadian flag pins on their backpacks. I've never actually seen one. Another is problems related to walking the streets with Korean girls. I dated a Korean girl for months and months, and pretty much walked the streets everyday holding her hand with no problem. Some people would look at me, but I can't say that wasn't just because of my whiteness.

On this board, however, you get the impression that Koreans walk around with pitchforks and torches, looking for the poor persecuted whitey with his korean girlfriend.

My girlfriend is half Chinese and is always being mistaken for a Korean since she's the Asian girlfriend and I'm the white boyfriend. Sometimes when we're out at night we'll get harassed a bit by drunks [of all ages, BTW], but she'll yell back at them in English and that usually gets them to back off.
Usually, though, it's as the others have said, just staring...

I'm a black American dog and my wife is a Korean dog. We've been together for almost nine years....most of that time was spent in America, but in Korea - so far we've had a few incidents where the local drunk dogs have barked at us, but their barks are usually worse than their bite. Very Happy

Company dogs are always out late running around with their pack. They can be dangerous, but we usually don't stay out too late. Also, depends on where you live. We live in an upscale neighborhood, so most of the dogs in my area have traveled outside of the country and have seen mixed couple doggies before...so eeesok around here.
