Check out this article about Cho's mother (i.e. Cho the VT murderer) seeking help from the minister of the local Korean church. The minister was going to de-demonize the kid, but . . alas . . he went off to school and we know what happens next .

http://www.wdbj7.com/Global/story.asp?S=6476973&nav=rmoiuwlf

This right up there with "fan death" and the host of other mythical cures Korean have for real-world ills. ( I know, someone's going to point to the Catholic church and exorcisms. Come on, even the Catholic church keeps this stuff in the realm of the spooky these days. )

We're ALL possessed by sprirtual & demonic entities Wink

Tis why quality meditation is essential.

Keep your spiritual house in order (know thyself) or suffer the consequences.

To be fair, you should go through some of these ... http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=exorcism

I saw a VIDEO on CNN yesterday that was quite disturbing & bizarre.

Eudaimonia (Greek: εuδαιμονία) is a classical Greek word commonly translated as 'happiness'. Etymologically, it consists of the word "eu" ("good" or "well being") and "daimōn" ("spirit" or "minor deity", used by extension to mean one's lot or fortune).

Although popular usage of the term happiness refers to a state of mind, related to joy or pleasure, eudaimonia rarely has such connotations, and the less subjective "human flourishing" is often preferred as a translation

I searched "exorcism cnn" on youtube. Nothing. Of all those videos you linked to on youtube, none of them are good evidence?

So you think killing people is because you are a loser? You haven't killed anyone yet. Laughing

Come on MM2, doesn't it make more sense that this guy was demonized? How can someone possibly kill innoncent people like that?

Gosh, what could possibly cause lightening? Must be a god! There are many people who are mentally ill and kill. I believe Cho was previously institutionalized. So seems like a good guess Cho's killing was largely caused by a mental illness and not a demon. But good to see your concept of cosmology and mental health care are both firmly seated in the middle ages. At least you're consistent.

I would rather believe that the evil that we see around us is based upon a dark being influencing our actions rather than the luck of the draw. If it was just a mental illness, then he really can't be held accountable for his actions. He was just the victim of a mental sickness. Right? It's the same mentality that is happenning in the states right now, where child sex offenders are getting off without any penalties because it really isn't their fault. They are just addicted to their behavior. Hopefully, you don't believe in this, but I am seeing this justification more and more and it's just a bad excuse MM2. As you love to point out, there a lot of Christians that exemplify bad behavior. Why is that? A mental disorder or demons influencing them to darken the truth?

Whereas, if he is influenced by demons, then he must be held accountable for his actions. Everyone has the power to control the rage within. Right now, this dude is in Hell, because he didn't turn his life over to love.

Which is really the bottom line of all of our discussions. You want to believe in a philosophy where one day you won't have to give an account a divine and righteous power. Hey, I was where you were a long time ago. Living for myself and loving the women. Right? Who wants to believe in the one who rules the cosmos and puts order into our surroundings when there are so many heavenly bodies around.

Evolution is the easy way out and you know it.

Peace bro!

Here's an old story from the beeb http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4596127.stm

Quote:
She had peppers rubbed into her eyes and was threatened with drowning in what her carers said was an attempt to drive out the evil spirit which had possessed her

Is it wishful thinking that leads you believe in demons?

This is happening?
Why not release them after an exorcism then, would that make you happy? We could shut down death row in a week.

'Devil made me do it', haven't used that one since I was 12, and it didn't work then.

Yes, and we know which loving being sent him there. How does a person have control over a demon entering them or not?

No you want people to be scared into believing in nonsense. Society used to believe in demons causing illness and disease until people discovered germs and modern medicine. So when you were loving those women did you catch something and blame it demons?

When will you understand that atheists have concerns beyond self gratification? I'd love to be on a hedonistic binge, but I to am accountable to my beliefs.

I suspect that far more Americans than Koreans believe in demonic possession. This is probably yet another thing that's more of an American influence than Korean.
