Buy today's Korea Herald (5/1Cool and read the op/ed "Time to Tackle the Upsurge in Consumer Prices".

It's no secret that excessive prices of consumer goods in Korea are baseless, and this article explains the whys and wherefores.

The biggest problem is the uneducated Korean consumers themselves. They either don't know they are being ripped off, or they feel that higher prices necessarily mean a superior product. Morons. And all the while the greed-head producers, distributors and the whole lot just rake in the profits and continue to drive this country's economy headfirst into the ground.

Heads must roll...

I think a lot of the people here that buy overpriced goods are the ones who don't travel outside the country. Hence, they don't have a base price to compare the prices here to.

Nah, he has a point when he says Koreans thik more money equals better product.

Just look at the way education works here.

I'll throw lots of money at my son's education and regardless of the quality of the education and his application to his studies it means he will be smart...

I have Korean friends who work for companies that import Korean goods from the U.S.A (it's cheaper). Things like LCD monitor components, etc...

I've never been able to wrap my brain around this concept.

Korean companies have a monopoly in Korea so they exploit Koreans.
Lol it's too funny.

I'd say that a lot of people here have "clued in".

That's why they shop so much overseas.

I chuckle when I think of the luggage carrousel at Incheon unloading a Korean flight returning from China. Every subway track-suit selling Korean on one flight.
