I have been looking for teashops called Sinyetchatjip and Yetchatjip (New Old Teashop, and Old Teashop, respectively). They are in Insadong, but I have looked and cannot find them. The former one is supposed to have incredible teas, plus a peacock, monkey and rabbit running around. The latter has an interesting decor, odd teas, and free-flying birds. They are supposed to be off of Insadonggil, but that has not helped me in the past.
Has anyone been to either of these shops or give better directions? Thanks! |

Teh one with the birds is behind the budist temple shop (the place where all the clerks are in gray pajamas).
Go down the little lane and it is at the end. 2nd floor, door on the left.
I don't know where the other one is. |

About halfway along Insadonggil on the east side of the street you'll see the Temple Cooking restaurant. It looks like this:

As ttompatz says, the one with the birds is down the alley. Look for a fountain and a birdcage outside. Go up the stairs. It's always packed on weekends, so if you're going there today, good luck. (All the teas go down quickly, so if you want to stay a while and sip something for more than 10 minutes, get the green tea. It comes with a thermos of hot water.) |
