If you use Firefox get the BetterGmail add-on. Helps you tweak it some and makes it look better in my opinion. You also have to install Greasemonkey, but it's very easy to do.

I use Gmail manager

Can one use them both at the same time?

Does anyone know why I get like 100+ spam mails every few days with gmail? I get junk with my hotmail account too (which is the main email address I use), but only a little bit. With gmail I get so much that half the time I just delete them all without looking... makes me worried I'm gonna miss a new message (cuz I couldn't be bothered to sort through it all) from somebody I know (i.e. whose first message has been sent to the the junk folder)... anyone else have this problem?

You need to mark them as spam and then check your bulf folder to see if anything went in there by mistake. It will learn pretty quickly but you
have to teach it.

I get no spam. 3000 msgs...no spam.

Yeah I've heard others say this too. But really, all I'm getting is loads of spam... I just checked it in fact and had 60 since the day before yesterday. Of course it gets sent to the junkmail folder, but I even get the odd spam in my inbox too... I looked at setting filters or whatever but it could only be done on specific addresses/subjects. Maybe it's just me. I don't know what the hell...

If the spam filter is sending it to the junk folder then it's doing what it's
supposed to be doing. What's the problem?

Send that complaint/comment to gmail. They WILL read it.

As for the file attachment size, it'll be a huge headache if they implement it. People will try to send those large attachments to other e-mail providers like hotmail or yahoo who don't support large files.

With increasing file attachment sizes, its one of those things where the major players have to do it together at the same time.

Also, remember GMail is still in the BETA stage. Google isn't satisfied with it yet. They want to make it better before it goes official.

They should automatically store the attachment and then send a link. Maybe I'll send that to google.

I use it, but it annoys me that if I delete a group conversation email before I click on it, it trashes subsequent emails.

GMail in my opinion is the best free e-mail service around. Google is constantly rolling out new features for it too.

You want to sort Chronologically, then go to your Gmail settings, scroll all the way to the bottom under how much space you're using and you should see:

Gmail view: standard with chat | standard without chat | basic HTML Learn more

There you go. No more grouping conversation style. If you got tips/ideas for gmail, you send them a message and you tell them your beef. Google is a hell of a lot better at listening to their users than other companies.

Uh...that's kind of like saying "go to the fork in the road and take it." You've got to tell me which one to click. At any rate, none of those seem to ungroup mails.

I've used hotmail since it started, and gmail since it started too.

I still have both, but gmail is now my default web-based email app, largely because I like its searchability and junkmail filter.

In fact, I've gotten repeated junkmail to my hotmail account for over 5 years, and literally dozens of attempts to classify it as spam within hotmail have failed. Hotmail just doesn't seem to be able to keep the crap out of my inbox.

Meanwhile, I get hundreds of spams a day in my gmail, and they are all sent to my spam folder. Maybe one or two a month sneak into my inbox. Beautiful.

Gmail knows about it. Fill it out and submit it. Be heard!

older accounts are grandfathered and let you use OE or Outlook - I do. But if you open a new account you don't get that option.
