I was told when I started I was told 5 vacation days for the whole year (it is not explicitly written in my contract). I needed to take 2 before the end of June and 2 after. I have to take one for my last day of work because she needed me here a day early for jet lag concerns.

I took one day no problem. I asked for the second day with a month's advanced notice as she requested and was denied for no apparent reason. She's too cheap to pay for a sub and tried to cover my classes herself. I heard there is a labour board. Does anyone have contact information?

Thanks

By law they have to give you ten vacation days per year. Also, if you're referring to personal/sick days, if it's not in your contract, I don't think you can force them to honor your agreement.

Yep...I feel ya.

Also, be on the look out for this one. Sometimes, employers will try to get you to take your second week vacation during the last week of your contract............NO.

I experienced that with a school in Gunsan...............not good.

Good luck.

By law you should have sick days and ten vacations days. How many sick days? 3 maybe. Should be five though. I think my contract only has 3. Whatever.

I really don't know why these owners get all horny about taking a vacation. Even one day. The parents lose what? 7000 Won/day. Big fing deal.
