I only have a Korean version of MS Word, and since I am not fluent in Korean, adding page numbers to my document is driving me crazy! MS Word thinks for itself too much. I am aware of page and section breaks, headers and footers, but I cannot for the life of me number my pages the way I want. Is anyone here an expert in MS Word page numbering? If so, please help! Thanks.

Peace

I've tried that - Word wants to number all my pages based on that command. The problem is, I do not want to start numbering until page 8, and I do not want any page numbers visible before page 8.

Peace

www.openoffice.org

It will save word format and export in PDF.

Imported word files will sometimes look different in openofficel.org.

Word files saved by openoffice.org will usually look the same in word.

It is not only a free download but also open source.

A commercial version and paid support are available
but I doubt you would ever need it.

That's the first page I read and tried before posting here. Done it, done it, done it! Still doesn't work.

Peace

It is very easy to get a Korean to burn you an 'Englishee' version of Word or Office. Most hagwons have it, and believe me they didn't pay. Or you could try downloading it but you'll need a crack or passkey generator.

I had a computer build back in 2003 in Yongsan. They installed MS Office Englishee on my comp for free, as well as Windows XP Englishee, also free. I have a new comp now but I know nothing's changed.

If you can speak a bit of Korean or have a Korean friend, either go to Yongsan and ask around (they have copies all over the place) or get a Korean friend to get you one. If you're at a hakwon ask your pu wan jang to get you a copy (say you need it to do 'extra work at home').

Yeah, you can get it for free. Just go to your local computer shop.

Go to insert (I), then page numbers (U). When that menu comes up, you have to go into format (F button) to start numbering from different numbers. Sometimes section/page breaks can cause weirdness.

If you paste from a document that already had page numberings, sometimes that can mess up the document that it is pasted into.

I have had many hours of frustration with page numbering in Word! Now I have it pretty under control...but it is a pain.
