I bought one for my wife, and have not yet been able to steal it from her, so I may actually end up getting another for myself. One of my friends bought one on my recommendation. It's his first mp3 player and he's pretty happy with it.
Pros:
Battery life is excellent
Expandability (just ordered an 8 gig SDHC card for 80,000 won)
Screen (2.5 inches is a little small, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make to keep it portable, and the screen itself is excellent.)
Size (about the perfect balance between screen size and portability IMO)
Customizable (the number of ways to tailor the sound to suit your ear are pretty much limitless)
Sound quality (at or near the top of its class)
Features (DMB, photo viewer, PMP, DAP, text viewer, Kor/Eng dictionary, TV-out etc)
Cons:
Some might not like the touchscreen interface (I like it) and the number of clicks to get things done. Also, file browsing might be somewhat confusing for a newbie.
Updating the firmware is (somewhat) complicated, and it is possible to brick your D2 when doing it (even if you do everything right.) This actually happened to the first D2 I bought. I had to return to the store to exchange it right after I bought it. I updated the second one no problem though, leading me to believe there was some kind of hardware issue with the first one. |

| The Creative Zen Vision M can play back Xvid or DivX files without re-encoding but it doesn't work with very high bit rate files. Its not a phone though. |

| Got one (2Gb DMB version) but will need to get more memory. It's a nice toy and keeps me entertained for hours. |

i love mine. 4 gig black, no dmb. great for movies, tv shows, music (it plays flacs and other lossless formats), pics, you can draw on it, and it has korean/english, english/english , and korean/korean dictionaries.

So the 4gig model comes w/ 4 gigs internal memory right? And when you buy a 8gig mem card for it that would bring you up to 12 gigs in unit, right? Just asking cause I saw a co selling a 4gig d2 for 213,000 but when I looked more closely it was the two gig model w/ a 2 gig mem card included...LOL!

iStation, Cowon A2/Q5, Blufin, basically most of the slightly larger PMP.
I've heard some great things about Meizu, a chinese company with their M6 which does play videos without en-coding them.

With en-coding on my D2, the standard Cowon software does a great job but I've been able to get it done faster using WinMEnc, a chinese software that uses the command line to process video/s in all kinds of resolutions and audio bitrate. I've had great success and fun watching videos on the D2. However, it is what it is, something small and convenient.
Oh it supports SDHC cards, which means that it take up to 32GB. If you're really rude you can sport 4 of these for a huge 128GB of media  |

| Are any of you having problems with your battery? I charged mine last night left it off and today it was showing zero... I just upgraded the firmware as well. 1.46 now.. on the DMB version. Any help or insight on the battery issue would be wonderful though.... |

| I'm really happy with mine. I upgraded the firmware to 1.41 DMB and haven't had any problems with battery. |

Why it it necessary to have all your music on cards? One 8 gigger would be good enough for me. |

mp3s sound like shit to me. i have a 300 gigabyte flac collection. i will also be watching video files on it. |

Ah, just got my 8 gig SDHC card in. Popped it into the D2 and loaded it up, and it seems to be working flawlessly so far. If anyone is interested, its a Transcend 8 gig Class 6 SDHC card and I picked it up for 80,000 won from some shop on danawa. (I chose Transcend because a lot of the guys over at www.iaudiophile.net use them, fyi.)
I actually ordered the Class 2 card (which is significantly slower) because there wasn't a listing for the Class 6 cards, but the guy at the shop didn't have any Class 2s in so he subbed the Class 6 card for free. |
