Did your students get you anything for Teachers' Day?

My coworker and I weren't really shocked that we didn't get anything from our students. I did have one student who congratulated me, but that's it. However, my coworker's girlfriend got roses, a chocolate cake, and some perfume from her students.

What about you?

I received a rose, a flower carnation, a professional pen set, a bath gel and lotion set, and a few cards from students. More than I expected. Then last Friday, the school took us out to an uncommonly fancy buffet in appreciation of our work on Childrens Day. We ate big delicious tender chunks of beef, salmon, and lots of exotic things; a real good time. Overall, I think I chose a decent hogwan for my 1st year teaching in Korea though it some real getting used to when I first arrived and I am paying my dues as I will admit, the job is not an easy one. My only complaint is there aren't enough holidays and 3 day weekends when teaching in a hagwon, though not a crisis situation.

I got a fountain pen. I sort of like it, though I haven't used one for years so it will take getting used to ...

I only have 2 students at the moment, and it came from both of them, so if I wanted to keep score I guess I'd put it up there at 100% ...

One of my adult students had some kimbab and those dry potato like dok round things. Had a couple of each while no one really touched anything and then realised later that it might've been because it was teacher's day.

Who gives a rat's arse.

Asked where some students were earlier on that day and was told, "It's teacher's day!" Replied with, "Well then what the hell am I doing here?!"

I got some gift certificates from my Principal.

Other than that, my students didn't give me anything.

I got a kick in the nads and a lecture from my princess co-teacher about how much more wonderful Korean students are than American students because they love their teachers.

A pair of girls in my school went around offering a 5-minute neck & shoulder massage service to the teachers. Did it well too.

I think we can all agree that even if you love teaching, it's still cool to have a day off.

I got some socks (seriously, what's the deal with socks), and a bunch of flowers, candy, and homemade cards. One of the cards simply said, "Thank you for teaching. Please teach me LOTS!"
