Well aren't you lucky. No clown dancing for you on Friday. That clown dancing must be quite tiring. |
You tell us. You're the one working at a hakwon. |

Got Thursday and Friday. Its funny... the school I teach at on Friday said, "the students will be doing 'at home study' but the school will be closed". That way, they can somehow say the students were still getting edumacated while not being at work. |

a quick question:
How many who are getting both days off would say their school is run well?
How many of those without the friday off would say their school is run poorly?
By that I don't mean because you don't get the day off the school is bad--- I mean on the whole is your school run well or poorly and does it just so happen to correspond with the school's decision to close on friday? |

How do you differentiate between well and poorly run public schools? |

that's for you to differentiate. It's your judgment, and I'll accept it.
A poorly run school could have disgruntled teachers, poor discipline, nonsensical or counter productive actions by the administration.
A well run school would be noticeably lacking in these things. |

I don't get Friday off but I did get May 1st off which a lot of teachers didn't get so I'm not going to complain PLUS I got last Friday off....
The school is well-run by the way.... |

As foreigners it's hard to gauge though, unless you have high level korean language skills and are part of the inner circle enough to warrant complaints be shared with you from disgruntled teachers. Korean public schools appear to me in any case to be run in a by the numbers fashion, guidelines passed down from the local education board and principals putting the policy's in place with minor variables allowed according to whatever "quirks" the principal has. |

I don't get Friday off, but my co-teacher was kind enough to tell me that there are some kind of special exams on Friday, so my first 4 classes will be cancelled..... and possibly the fifth as well.
Seeing as how the last 3 classes on Fridays are "special" classes anyway, I can feel an imminent bout of the 24 hour flu rapidly making its way in my direction. I would guess it will arrive early Friday morning. |

Great. I started this thread, and have just been informed that we now do NOT get Friday off. Last weeks tests results were tabulated, and they didn't reach the schools "target" so thus they are adding Friday as punishment. |
