I read the entry on wiki, but I'm sure there's more to it. Anyone have more information about how Koreans view various bloodtypes?
I talked with a few girls about it and I couldn't get a good answer. I'm an AB blood type, and I was told AB types are usually crazy/psychotic or geniuses.
Also, what about the compatibility? Are certain blood types more compatible to others (personality wise, not biologically). |

I told my friend that I'm indecisive. And then she asked if I'm type A lol |

My public school co-teacher seemed very happy when I told her that I'm type O (she asked). I don't know why, or what it means, but she's cool with it so I guess I am too haha. |

Here are a few more facts you can look up on Wikipedia.
-the theory that blood type affects personality was disproved decades ago
-type B is more common among Jews and Asians
-the notion that type B blood is sort of negative was suggested by Nazi scientists, who wanted proof that Asians and Jews are inferior to Aryans
-a twisted version of the theory reached Japan in 1927
-the Japanese used it to prove that type O blood is common among Taiwanese, who at the time were revolting from Japanese occupation. their conclusion was that the Taiwanese interbreed with the Japanese so they will be more submissive and less cruel.
-the modern day tradition of judging someone based on blood type started in the '70s by a nutbag Japanese dude named Masahiko Nomi |

Speaking of this, where are some places I can go to give blood? There must be some IRC around here somewhere. |

I'm O+, which is apparently very good. Yes, I've heard that AB is bad. One of my students told me she hated a certain teacher because he has type AB blood.
I wonder what Cho Seong-hui's blood type was? |

Because unlike most Korean women your age you probably have a sexual history that involves more than just hangook namja, or indeed even a sexual history, period.
Apart from a readily available supply why else do you think they send the blood buses around to high schools? |

Oh for the love of....
You can donate blood. That particular vein of angst of "Oh no...The Koreans don't want our heathen blood!" has been bleed dry...or at least I thought so...
Like almost everything else in this country, getting it done can be hit or miss but certainly not impossible.... |

But doesn't it feel right to think that they won't accept your blood because you're not Korean? |

they want [need] all the blood they can get. you have to stay in the country for a year (without leaving) before you can donate. they ask all the regular questions. also then want you to not imbibe for three days before donating. i'm gonna go this thursday (it will be my fourth time donating in korea). also, when you donate in korea, they give you a card. you can use this to get free blood if you or someone you know are in an accident and need blood. if you have this card, you don't have to wait for blood if there is a shortage.
if anyone wants help donating in shinchon, let me know. i'd be glad to help out (finding the place, translating/explaining korean, etc - basically meet you in shinchon be a guide for you). just send me a pm or call me.

Yeah, I want to "get into" giving blood. I found out it is actually quite healthy to give blood as it helps the body make new blood more quickly. I have only donated blood once, in high school. |

How many westerners do you know who have been in this country for the past 12 months without ever leaving? A couple of pitiable souls doing back-to-back contracts at hagwons with no real holiday time? |
