will the sopranos end in the archetypal mafia don story with only two options: jail or death? i've been fighting with this because so far in this new (extention of the) season tony has alluded to both: dying and(/or) going to prison. i had given up faith on the sopranos ending with a bang...until i saw this episode. first time i watched it with jaw agape in maybe a year. faith officially restored.

how do you all think it will end?

Carmela is the best thing in the Sopranos.

I liked season 5 when her and T got divorced so she was able to run around doing stuff. She's by far the best actor in the programme, I just wish David Chase would've given her a few more lines instead of her constantly proping up the kitchen opening mail.

The thought of there only being 3 more episodes is too much. It must go on and on forever.

I fear a cop-out ending, such as...

A) Tony wakes up and it was ALL just a dream. He really is that salesmen that he dreamt of being when he was laid up from the gunshot.

B) The "nothing" ending: the family all sits down together in Artie's restaurant and eats a dinner while a thunderstorm rages outside, as happened in an earlier season.

LOL. You know, I reckon you might be right.

You need to look at it analytically:

3 episodes left
Chris murdered
AJ heading for a breakdown/suicide
Rising asbestos related tension between NJ and NY

From this I'd say that either:

A. AJ will blame T for all the horror in the world (only about 50% true) and gun him down with one of T's own guns.
B. Someone loyal to Christopher will gun T down. Maybe his Mother/wife
C. Mob war breaks out. T gets gunned down leaving Silv to step up to the plate, but given how stressed he became when he assumed control of the family when T lay dying in hospital, I'd say that this is highly unlikely. Maybe Phil and his NY crew will take over NJ?
D. It was all a dream and T really died on the operating table at the start of series 6.

My choice (fans will know that this episode has yet to be resolved):
E. The missing Russian from Pine Barons returns killing T as he tries to defend Paulie.

The more I think about the Pine Barons episode, the more I think that it'll somehow play a part in the grand finale.

I like option E, there has been a lot of talk about this one though A has some credibilty.

I'm horribly afraid aninmal's option B will happen though. If they do that one somebody better put a hit on Chase.

Personally, I'd love to see Carmella whack him given all the crap she has put up with. Maybe she does it when she finds out shes HIV+ and she got it because of T's messing around

spoiler alert, spoiler alert!!!!!

Well we were right about AJ, he does have a breakdown. I thought for sure he was going to kill himself there.

the way phil was acting about the asbestos today, my money is on a serious mob war

t going after the guy who made the nasty remarks about meadow was classic

2 more left, man they have some serious lose ends to tie up in 2 hours

I think the series will end just as a major NY-NJ turf war starts, setting up a plot for a future movie.

So, after this last episode, who thinks Tony eventually gets shot up by the NY outfit?

What's the deal with the Arabian guys? Why is that storyline still going? i wonder what Chase is up to there...seems kind of superfluous to the core plot, but with so little time left, why have they not sewn that one up yet? I think there must be a significance there, but I can't figure it out.

I haven't seen any of the current series, but I'd say either:

A - The Russsian returneth
B - War - T kills Phil. The two families merge. Voila. T becomes master of the universe.

My theory (as someone may have suggested above):

Tony - as well as members of his family - is in danger of being killed off by the NY fellows. This, combined with his post-gunshot realization that his family is important (coupled with AJ's suicide attempt) and that he, like his son, doesn't want to die, makes Tony decide to roll on his cohorts and the NY gang by going to the FBI. The FBI, who Tony helps with both info on the Arabs and on the local mafia, puts the Sopranos into the witness protection program, giving Tony a cover not unlike the fellow he dreamed of being when he was comatose from Junior's gunshot.

But I hope I'm not right about this (I don't think it fits Tony's character). I hope the ending is better than that.

Arrr.... it's next sunday. I've been checking isohunt all day wondering why the new episode wasn't up- finally figured out that wasn't happening and checked the hbo site.

Anybody know if the final episode is just one hour, or will it be longer?
