I was wondering if anyone has had a hard time getting a flight reimbursed by EPIK. My recruiter is saying that the flight I want to book might be too expensive - the problem it that it's the cheapest one I can find (am going from Eastern Canada to Busan in summer, last-minute).

Anyone had any experience with this?

Yes, tell them to find a new teacher or book the ticket themself if they want something cheaper.

http://www.bt-store.com/ but they only handle US flights. How far are you
from the border. I needed a cheap ticket because I was broke. What date is last minute?

Tell the recruiter to find one cheaper for you and he'll probably say it's fine.

I think the staff here appreciated my low cost ticket though.

On every issue I had with my recruiter I just asked lots of questions and
reasons why I couldn't do whatever until
she found a way around the issue.

They want you and they want you bad.

I only paid $530 US leaving from Wichita, KS but that was in October.

I did a search for June 13 out of Chicago and got this after clicking on a

Thanks to everyone who replied. I guess I will just have to take it up with the recruiter. She found a flight that was marginally cheaper, but that arrives two days later than I wanted (maybe I'm being unreasonable & picky, but really would like a day to recover from 24-hr flight before classes start).

I have searched the discount websites, but all the cheap flights I can find are sold out. I have to arrive around June 1st, and at this point the fares are going up every day, so am going to book the ticket. Part of the problem is that I am not leaving from a major American city, so everything is automatically $300-400 more, plus I'm going to Busan instead of Seoul.

My Public School wants me to overstay my Visa by a day, saying "It's no big deal" about getting a "black mark" on my record. This, after they refused to just let me get a ticket, and insisted they would buy it for me--apparently so I can't cash it in and just stay in Korea.
I said to them I'll have a 100,000 fine of I overstay, and they should give me the extra cash to pay the fine. They refused. Finally they gave me a day off to go spend the day at immigration to get the waiver. What incompetents.

By the way that Kim Wenise or whatever won't return her emails--as I've emailed her regarding all this.

I am leaving out in August for the states.. Right in the middle of Oklahoma too. started out at about 2,300$ but down to around 1,600$ now..

I think the schools are forgetting that in the summer the travel season is at its peak here and in most countries as schools are out.

I did find a cheaper one but it was like a three day journey to get back home.. said F-That. Hopefully I wont have a problem with it.

ahh should mention that this is a return ticket as well.

My contract talks about paying for cheapest direct flight ... and for me there are limited direct options ... so in some cases the direct flight will cost more than one with stopovers ... but I am covered ... I am not forced to accept just any flight ... I do not expect that I would have any problem if I did want to have the stopover / change plane points because those flights are often cheaper than the direct flight ... If it was more expensive then they would pay up to the direct flight cost.

When I came over the second cheapest flight happened to be the direct flight ... which I prefered ... The first flight they found for me had break of about 10 hours in the middle of the night in Ho Chi Min city (Vietnam) .... It also meant changing airlines with all the headaches that would have meant with luggage etc... The one I found which was actually cheaper than that one ... was a direct flight ....

You don't have to be there on June 1st. They'll still take you if you show up later. Whatever you do don't book a non-refundable flight until you have your visa in hand.
