Have any of you purchased the new Lonely Planet Korea book yet? I purchased the 2004 book 2 months ago and used it in Busan, Seoul, and Jinju and found the maps were very poor quality to the exent I was lost too much of the time. It definitely lacks vital and useful information. Keep in mind, I am seasoned traveler well experienced in mapping and navigation. Yes, I actually need books (and sometimes locals to assist me in finding my way) to help discover the mysteries of Asian countries as it's not easy to understand like in Europe. Smile

If you are using the new 2007 Korea book yet, please let us know how it has improved. Thanks in advance.

I bought it a couple of weeks ago...only the 2nd lonely planet i ever bought but I just wanted it for some background reading on Gangwondo.

It just looks like a bit of an update from the 2004 one...

It is sufficient..

However the best thing to do is when you get somewhere just go to the tourist information centre....they will be able to give you more current information on anything that is printed in the lonely planet.

Also the section on Gyeongsangnamdo(excluding Busan) was a disgrace.....I could have done a much better job as i have travelled all around this province for almost 6 years. I wrote to lonely Planet to complain.
I can't believe Goeje-do was omitted and namhae was given about 1/3 of a page where as in other provinces at least the coverage is adequate...

I know you live in korea(in busan) Rob Whyte(who wrote the section for Gyeongnam). Please do a much better job next time. It was very poor effort at best....I will work on the next section if i have too.

I just bought the latest addition as well for Gangwondo in particular.

I've noticed little has changed since the last edition.
