Recently there's been a couple 'bash the brits' threads where no one really came up with any remotely decent attacks on us. Most of it was based on silly things about the language differences between American English and proper English.

The reason the attempts failed were basically because America doesn't really have anything over us. Let's be honest. We're both rich countries, we both have excellent universities and education systems, we both have high crime rates, we both have a high percentage of our citizens living below the poverty line, etc etc.

However, something we have over the US, and I believe it to be an extremely important advantage, is the NHS. For all the criticism us Brits launch at the NHS we know we are so lucky! So many people around the world (USA included) wish they had it.

We break legs, sever fingers, get sick etc and can rely on the NHS to fix it for FREE! The service might be slow but that leg will get plastered up for free. That body part you f'd up will get seen to for FREE. You won't have to take out loans and pay thousands of dollars for operations. Imagine having to do that! Damn that must destroy famalies. One day everythings ok and the next you have sell everything you own to get your daughters legs fixed!

This clip from Michael Moore's new doc. is just one example of what we all know. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFUtAaeYxno

So come on you Brits. Smile and be thankful. They're so jealous of what we've got. Blair was terrible, but he was right when he said "this is the greatest nation on Earth."

Why do you want him to continue? He's always going on and on about America but he's got nothing interesting to say. I'm a Brit and I feel a bit embarrassed by you demi.

I was being slightly sarcastic actually....

Nothing more boring than rubbernecking in a car wreck of a thread anyway... which is what this thread essentially would become judging by the path the exact same OP took in the general discussion forum....YAWN Rolling Eyes

No you're not.

Ahh, it's funny how you guys don't comment on the actual topic. why are you acting like my post is insulting? It's a serious issue. If you agree with it, just say so. You don't need to try and play that 'oh he's just hating on America' card. Wink

Yes you could.

I shall assume you agree with my point though, considering you haven't tried discredit it. Wink

It's not worth discussing.

I've never been to the U.K. so I'm not going to bash it or yap about how great it is....

I'll leave that for those who feel as if its life's work to one up each other over countries that probably wouldn't miss them if they defected to North Korea... Rolling Eyes

What exactly am I supposed to be jealous about? I'm American from Mass. The last time I came back from Korea I needed a minor sinus operation. I went to my local hospital financial office and said "hey! I need health insurance." They said "do you have a job?" Not wanting to lie, I thought about it for a moment and said "No." (between contracts this is technically the truth)
Two weeks later I got a "Mass Health Card" in the mail right before my scheduled operation, and they covered 8,000$ worth of medical expenses at zero expense to me. I'm still covered under that plan if I choose to go home any time soon.

I got one for you.

Started in America:
Break dancing.
Who are the best now? Arguably, Koreans.

Started in England:
English.
Who are the best now? Probably, North Americans.

I think the point is obvious. As an American, I loath to think that others can beat us at something the originated from the depths of our culture, but it is happening everyday on all fronts. From hip-hop, to b-boying, skateboarding, video and computer games, and even the sacred cinema. But hey, that's life.

You Brits may have invented English, but we took it over, we molded it, perfected it, into the obvious form it should lie in.

But then again, its a bastardized language and we are the best at being bastards. So rebuke this OP.

Proper English 300,000,000 million Americans and 30,000,000 Canadians outvote 65 million Brits. We are also better educated, better looking, and more inherently intelligent.

Most Brits love the fact we have such a small population in comparison. We're unique and generally get a warmer welcome from foreigners when we travel. You can find Americans & Canadians everywhere but us Brits are more of a rarity. It's always better that way

People look at our little island and think, "wow, how did they achieve so much, there's only about 60million of 'em." It's a great feeling.

err....the average American is better educated than the average Brit Ok....you tell yourself that, even though the whole world has an embedded impression that the average American is rather stupid. You must really hate that.
