Did I miss the meeting? When did Korean bikers get together and unanimously decide to ride with their goddam feet dangling? Not only does this look ridiculous, but it also poses a serious health risk to the rider. In short, it's retarded.

I remember reading some article where some politician said that people with IQs less than 100 should not be permitted to get behind the wheel of a car. Absogoddamlutely.

For bikers, they should up that number to about 150.*

No, that doesn't disqualify me, yah mook...

I guess there are retards driving everywhere in the world. Ok, so I just happened to meet a Korean retard driving retardedly today, very much so Very Happy . I'm coming around a bend and, TWO HUNDRED METERS down the road is a red Tico coming towards me. There are four cars he's going alongside, apparently trying to pass them (?). It's just retarded. He sees me, of course, but just keeps on coming on.

Anyway, I'm on a motorbike. I can oblige and go to the side of the road a bit to let him by, which I do. Alternatively, buddy could have tucked into the traffic, back into his own lane at any time. The reason he's taking so long to pass is he's driving a gutless Tico so...I have questions.

If he's going to drive like he's driving an SUV, what's with the Tico? I found this episode so unbelievably stupid (this guy was a head-on waiting for a partner) that I turn around, once he has passed, and follow him at speed. He immediately turns off onto a secondary road. I catch up to him honking my horn continuously, alongside him, so he'll pull over.

But he just keeps driving faster, doesn't turn his head to look at me. I let him go. What madness, what a moron. The roads are for everyone. Why is he risking the lives of other people, is he nuts, stupid, retarded, drunk, what? I pull over where some farmers by the side of the road witnessed us tearing by, say he's a crazy driver. They apparently know already, he must be famous in the county.

Thanks for listening, be careful, and have a nice day. Smile(In seven years of driving in Korea this is one of the most senselessly idiotic displays of driving I've seen, just to be fair).

One of the reasons I sold my bike. Too many encounters with these idiots. I understand the lack of a right of way here, but c'mon get your head out of your a$$!

when i first got my bike in australia i would have loved to ride it with no helmet and other protection, its just such a free feeling.. I was my belief that if you keep yoru wits about you then you wont run into trouble.

But now I am here im starting to think otherwise. Im not exactly sure why.

In seven years that's the worst example (that I can recall, I usually let 'incidents' go in one ear and out the other) of the driver demanding right of way because he is a car. He assumed, since I'm a motorbike, I'd get out of the way. That's really what pissed me off. It was nowhere near an 'accident'. Just his attitude. Not right. Never mind it was taking him forever to pass that line of four cars in his gutless Tico (remember, I saw him and he saw me at two hundred meters) . Talk about creating problems.

I'm seeing some Spring Fever on the road these days. People driving with fluorish like giddy, fat-assed egomaniacs on the way to an ice-cream convention. Here is where the mad ads for cars, with the car chases and seething hottie in the passenger seat head out the window demanding, 'faster', become reality and the antidote to monthly dreamcar payments. Pardon me, I've a thing against cars sometimes, especially driven by RETARDS.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

I think that has more to do with the wars (Korean and Nam), but I could be mistaken here.

Kirk,

The only thing that surprises me about your story is the fact that the driver was male. Not counting bus, taxi, and truck drivers, who are 99% male and 100% craptastic drivers, all close calls I've had on my bike have been with women drivers.

Korean bikers seem to purposely drive as nonchalantly as possible. It's an image thing.

Watch for the Chinese food delivery guys, riding fast on the sidewalk, with one hand, while talking on the cellphone, ciggie sticking out of the mouth and wearing flip-flops.

Don't worry. Darwin will eventually catch up to him someday.

The male driver morons usually drive like that because of ego and self-importance. "I am driving, YOU will get out of MY way!" The driving laws don't apply to THEM, only to YOU.

The woman driver morons usually drive like that because they simply were not taught well enough. (except for the women taxi and bus drivers who have been super whenever I've had one)

(all in my experience, of course... YMMV)

I love the underlying premise of this thread: Korean motorcycle drivers are reckless. Rolling Eyes

It would please me so much to know why you gents chose to spurn your homeland utopias of brilliant and courteous citizenry only to come to languish in the Land of F-ckwads..

I was thinking about this yesterday and I thought mabey this over-the-top reckless biking a kind of symbolic way of expressing 'korea is conservative, but when im on my bike no one can fck with me.'

You mean like this?

I can drive into your house and onto your bed and lay my bike down next to your wife and ask her how her day was and you can't do a damn thing about it, because I ride.

Seriously, if I had a 10 cent coin for every time I've done something naughty on my bike in plain sight of "the man" and got away with it, I'd have tens of dollars.

Taxi drivers are also GOD. And so are bus drivers.

We're the new religion. Deal.

No, the premise is that they look like tards when they ride with their feet down, like adult training wheels. Let's get it straight, folks.

Riding a motorcycle is dangerous, feet or no feet, helmet or no helmet. You'd have to be mad to ride one here.
