One small FedEx envelope. From east coast Canada to South Korea. How long does it take? |

Should not take longer than 3 'working' days. The speed of delivery is why the price is so high to send by FedEx and rival 'courier' companies.
FedEx generally has a good reputation, and should deliver the goods, fast.

That's good, considering my degree is going to be in it I'm getting insurance on it too.
That's a lot quicker than I thought, to be honest I figured it'd be more than a week. |

Yes, that is one simple question, but only moderately stupid. But I wondered it myself before I came here to the land of eternal knowlege and unerring information. And don't forget to get the tracking number and email it to your school so they can check from Korea.
Also, bring your skateboard. You won't regret it, and it's an excellent way to meet Korean friends who share similar interests with you. Plus, Koreans generally love sports and outdoor activities and tend to view skateboarding in that context. As long as you don't slam into pedestrians you will be fine, and even if you did they are very used to slamming into each other anyway on the sidewalks. and also there are many decent parks here...many completely empty during the day before hagwon hours. good luck! |

I think sending your degree is a bad idea. Get 5 or 6 certified copies. Then you will have them for future jobs. |

My employer doesn't take certified copies, they only want originals. However I do trust my employer. |

Stop delivery of your degree if possible and send a notarised copy instead because you run the risk of never getting it returned to you from the owner of the hogwon. |

Of course they are going to say that. You just send the certified copy and pretend you didn't understand. If they won't take the certified copy then
you say you lost the original and it will take six weeks to get a replacement
from your university. Then they do you a "favor" by accepting the certified copy. No one has to call anyone dishonest and everyone understands that you aren't a push over.
Even if they are super nice people accidents happen. Leave the degree in Canada as a backup in case you need another certified copy. |

Just get your university to print originals for you. They're only $20. |

They're actually something like $57.50
But yes, if my actual degree gets lost in transit I'll just have it reprinted. No big deal. |

OP,
I sent a "small simple envelope" with UPS. I dropped it off at 4pm Thursday, and it arrived in Korea on their Monday (our Sunday night). Cost me $55 and it went from Ottawa to Seoul.
I sent my original degree. I didn't feel like incurring any more costs by getting a lawyer to notarize copies. I am confident my employer will give it back. If they won't, then I know I have bigger problems to deal with. An original can be ordered from the University for $35, but takes about 6 weeks.
I did order 2 extra copies of my transcripts, in case I wish to switch schools at some point (even at the end of my contract). |

Famous last words. Good luck with your 'trust' in a Korean that you've never met though. I'd put more faith in responding to Ndobele Hot Stix, my favourite Nigerian e-mailer. |
