How do you know if DD has a sense of humour? He might have been quietly amused by Gopher's naughty little composition. I generally have a good chuckle at a poster's naughty little digs at me, if they're witty and well done - and I confess to smiling (and sometimes even laughing) at some of your cheekiness, Mr McGarrett. Razz

Gopher: your new avatar is crap. Why don't you make the 'tough gopher' your avatar instead?

Love it!!

Here, I've resized it for you in my photobucket account - in a bid to encourage you to use it. Wink

C'mon Gopher,

With such a magnanimous gesture on Big Bird's part, how can you refuse? Smile

P.S. It works for me too. Just throwing in my 10 won's worth.

Great, gopher. Too bad the little varmint isn't wearing a University of Minnesota sweater.

Now it's your turn, Big Bird. Let's see a submachine gun in that little tyke's hands.

I've got a great photo of McGarrett aiming his revolver at the camera to match yours.

Gopher,

I think you have a new career path and indeed I got more than just a chuckle (despite what McScrouge would think). Very creative and language empowered. All but the ending, you should have had a much better "coup de grace" Like sex, it is all about the ending....this poetry stuff...

That said, I do get a chuckle that others would even suggest I'm without humour. In Korea I get my share of abuse from white (not cocaine) laced teachers thinking I am promoting "clownmanship" and teaching as too unserious a "method".

Still, I do wish you'd not use a gun on your gopher..... One thing I won't have humour for, is this trivialization of violence. All those junk movies and kids running around supermarkets with toy guns etc....just isn't appropriate and I do believe I have a point regarding how this "in total" ruins our society. That it exists, is a given but that it shouldn't be called out for what it is and not drumming out a call for our own need to be "better" in a small way -- is to be condemned. Change your gun into a sitar...

Please McGarette, respond to my arguement or just stay in your starched collared universe. You are not even man enough to note you are wrong. Horrible and says alot.

Now back to my seafood diet. I see food, I eat it.

DD

PS. Wish I had more time these days to post but just overwhelmed at my job....do what I do well and sometimes that means not being able to look sideways for awhile...

Spoken like the Minuteman I'm sure you are.

It's Scrooge, not Scrouge, for the spelling-challenged EFL teacher.

Now run along and stuff your pie hole.

Mr Dibble, tell the terrorists to put down their real weapons, and Hollywood might stand a chance of putting down their imaginary weapons. Mind you, the former might make a greater difference than the latter.

becareful with this stuff..... it's too hard for DD to realize that people's devotion to that crazy desert prophet's message of world conquest is a cause of violence in the world...he'd rather post things about taking plastic guns away from kids

ddeubel, if imaginary violence offends you, then this must surely make you foam at the mouth.

Please read my posting. I'm not offended by this kind of imagery and have posted my share. It is in the receiver , not the thing itself -- the offense.

My post was all about how crazy it is, to think that because of VT, Americans would suspend their appetite for violent films . Or any culture for that matter.

Nothing to do about imagery and the psyche. But keep barking up your dying tree ........ if you want, please take a look at a few of my creations and their own graffic imagery. It is all in how it is done not the thing itself...

I don't see what is so terrible in seeing the reality of a situation. NO, don't deny there is violence in Muslim cultures. So too our own. I atleast have balance and eat a balanced diet. So many here, take the simple approach of just protein -- knowing nothing of concepts taken from social science and noting how similiar we all are.

BMLS,

What is your point? That it is good? I think it is horrible anywhere. So if you are taking the line that it is particularly horrible in Islamic cultures, I disagree.

I can pull up as many photos as you want, to match those, of American / Western kids with guns in hand.

Horrible anywhere and it isn't culturally exclusive. Raising kids to salute and that killing people is a categorical imperative. So you'd do well to mix up the pics a bit, if you want to make an "objective" point. Otherwise, you are just a dupe that has swallowed all the imagery and rhetoric available out there...
