Where are most of you from and why are you in Korea, as opposed to somewhere else teaching? My Korean gf asked me about this and it made me curious as to where most foreigners are from.

I doubt the members of this board make up a representative sample of foreigners in Korea.

To answer your questions, I am from Montreal, Canada. I have no idea why I'm here, just kind of happened, and I'm happy it did.

I'm from Los Angeles. I like Korea, I'd visited many times as a tourist and decided I'd like to live here for a while. I use MAC cosmetics. Wink

I moved here from Scotland to marry a Korean lass.
I work as an English Teacher to make a living.

I only get to try out make-up, on weekends when the wife is out of town. Embarassed

Peace & Love

OP, I think you will find the majority of 'foreigners' here are actually from the developing world and working in the so-called 3D professions.

Not sure if your GF is asking about foreigners in general or just teachers.

The largest demographic of foreigners in Korea starts with the Chinese, then the SE Asian factory workers, which are led by Filipinos, Indonesians, etc...

This article is for Seoul only, but comes from the highly regarded Chosun Ilbo English Edition, so it should be taken as gospel.

I'm from Rockford, IL, USA. I just tell people that I'm from Chicago; it's easier. I teach in Korea for the $$$. I like it here and will do another year. But if Thailand allowed me to save up this much cash, I'd move there.

I'm also from Vancouver Island, B.C.

I'm here because I like the easy lifestyle. I like teaching, I like saving money, I like Korean food and I like Korean women.
